CALL TO ORDER: Robyn Van Vliet, Past President called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m.

PAST PRESIDENT’S REPORT:

Robyn provided a report on Chapter activities for the 2014/15 fiscal year, as follows:

Manitoba chapter is now using the new registration system implemented by FMI National. Our chapter along with Fredericton are the first to adopt the new system. A special thank you to John O’Leary for his hard work and dedication in making this process run smoothly.

Events

Chapter activities for the 2014/15 fiscal year were:

 One Breakfast session  Four luncheon sessions

There were 248 attendees at the events last year which was a decrease from the previous year, but we had one less event.

To keep our membership and registration fees very low, we will continue to subsidize our members at our events. This subsidy or loss is planned for each year and we set the event prices accordingly.

NOMINATIONS AND CONFIRMATION OF BOARD MEMBERS:

 Robyn thanked the Board of Directors for their commitment to FMI and their time spent on board activities in the past year and noted three board members retired from the board this year, while three new members volunteered. Thank you to our retiring Board members Richard Decka, Iding Sanchez and Lynn Cowley for all of their services over the years.

A call for nominations from the floor was requested and none were received.

The proposed 2015/16 Board of Directors is:

Election As per sub-section 10(3) of the by-laws Directors (previously listed) shall be elected.

MOTION: Robyn Van Vliet moved that the Board be elected. SECONDED: Mike McGinn MOTION PASSED: All in favour

VOTE:

As per sub-section 7(1) of the by-laws

“At a meeting of the Board of Directors held at least one (1) month, but not more than three (3) months, preceding the annual general meeting in each year, the Board of Directors shall, elect from among its members, the following Directors, who shall take office immediately following the next annual general meeting and hold office until the following annual general meeting:

(a) President (b) Vice President (c) Treasurer (d) Secretary

At a meeting of the Board of Directors on August 19, 2015 the following were elected from the members of the Board:  Athena Dinos for President  Cindy Dryden for Vice-President  Trevor De Ryck for Treasurer  Jordan Dunnigan for Secretary

MOTION: Robyn moved that the Board be elected. SECONDED: Mike McGinn MOTION PASSED: All in favour

Robyn turned the floor to Trevor De Ryck to provide the report from the Treasurer.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

Trevor De Ryck, Treasurer for the Manitoba Chapter provided the Treasurer’s report. Trevor presented the financial statements for the period ending June 30, 2015.

Trevor explained that the 2015 Financial Statements were reviewed by two FMI members, Mike McGinn and Djemal Halilagic. There were no questions from the floor.

MOTION: Trevor De Ryck moved that the financial statements be accepted as presented ACCEPTED: Richard Decka MOTION PASSED: All in favour

2 fmi*igf MANITOBA CHAPTER: ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING MINUTES September 24, 2015 11:30 to 1:30 RADISSON HOTEL – DOWNTOWN WINNIPEG Trevor asked for two members to volunteer to conduct the financial review for the period ending June 30, 2016, Mike McGuin and Djemal Halilagic volunteered. There were no objections from the floor.

Trevor turned the floor to Athena Dinos to provide the report from the Incoming President.

INCOMING PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Membership Fees

The membership fees will remain at $30.00 this year, of which $15.00 plus GST is remitted to FMI National.

Chapter activities for the 2015/16 fiscal year are: o October 27 – Milt Issac - President of the Association of Canadian Financial Officers, will be discussing “Building a sustainable society”. The presentation will look at recent trends in government, will challenge some of the established thinking around job creation, corporate taxes and globalization. Milt will also discuss the failings of the current system and challenge us to become more engaged in conversations about truly sustainable societies.

o December 10 – Sharon O’Leary – Independent Consultant and owner of That O'Leary Girl Inc. will be discussing “Artistry in Coaching”

o January 27 – Jim Silver - Professor of Urban and Inner City Studies at the University of Winnipeg. Jim has done some inspirational work with Winnipeg’s inner city, was the spokesperson and leader of Thin Ice, a small group of activists who opposed the drive to keep the Jets in Winnipeg in 1995.

o Other topics we are working on include Big Data and a presentation from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.

Also of note:  PD Week - in Ottawa Nov 24-27th o Partnering for Success

 PSMW o This year in St John’s Newfoundland o June 12-14th o The National Office is once again contributing a $1,200.00 subsidy towards the cost for one of our members to attend PSMW. A draw will be made for this at an upcoming event.
