Job Description:
This is a part time, limited term position during the summer. The Camp Caboose Kitchen Aide Coordinator will manage the preparation, set-up, distribution and clean-up of meals at Camp Caboose. The Kitchen Coordinator will also lead a group of Campers in the menu planning, preparation & cooking of our Friday Lunches which include food prepared with a local CSA. This position reports to, is accountable to, is supervised by and evaluated by the Site Supervisors. 30 hours/wk: 8:00am-2pm M- H, 8a-3p on Fridays
This position must be able to treat children and their families with respect, dignity and caring; and be supportive of cultural differences, special needs and different family structures.
Wages: $11.20/hour

Experience: Experience working with children and in a kitchen setting for large groups of people with a child care or school setting preferred.

Overall Responsibilities
This is a part time, limited term position during the summer. The Camp Caboose Kitchen Aide Coordinator will manage the preparation, set-up, distribution and clean-up of meals at Camp Caboose. This position must be able to treat each child and their families with respect, dignity, and caring; and be supportive of cultural differences, special needs, and different family structures. This position reports to, is accountable to, is supervised by and evaluated by the Site Supervisors.
I) Qualifications
A) Experience- Must have experience in both child care and kitchen settings.
B) Skills and Qualities i) Work independently. ii) Take direction. iii) Complete tasks efficiently. iv) Lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
II) Specific Duties
A) Meet the Nutritional Coordinator at Camp Caboose twice daily to help unload food from the Nutritional Coordinator’s car and transport it to the Camp Caboose kitchen.
B) Cut/prepare fruit and other foods for breakfast, lunch and snack.
C) Set up meals on carts for family style breakfast, lunch and snack. i) Ensure that a sufficient supply of serving and eating utensils are on the cart. ii) Place food and beverages into serving containers and onto cart. iii) Deliver carts to classrooms/eating rooms. iv) Assist Site Supervisors ensuring all supplies, food, and beverages are packed and available on field trips. v) Record number of children at each meal and return to the Billing Coordinator by the 5th of the next month.
D) Maintain food safety i) Store food according to State Licensing regulations. ii) Record temperature of food upon delivery on a form to be returned to the Nutritional Coordinator monthly. iii) Record the temperature of each refrigerator and freezer daily on a form to be returned to the Nutritional Coordinator monthly.
E) Keep all dishes, utensils and kitchen supplies clean i) Wash and sanitize dishes. ii) Put away air-dried dishes from the previous meal.
F) Follow all relevant State Licensing, Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and City of Madison regulations and/or standards.
3 G) Keep the kitchen orderly and safe i) Clean and restock carts for every meal/snack. ii) Keep the kitchen organized in a clear and understandable way. iii) Keep sinks, floor, appliances and all surfaces in kitchen clean. iv) Coordinate the program’s recycling efforts. v) Ensure that a sufficient supply of paper products and cleaning products is available.
H) Communicate with Camp Caboose staff i) Communicate with teachers regarding variations in meal times. ii) Communicate with Site Supervisors regarding tasks that need to be completed after the kitchen shift has ended. iii) Communicate with the Nutritional Coordinator as needed. iv) Be aware of children’s dietary restrictions and allergies. v) Attend Camp Caboose staff development meeting.
I) Other duties that fall within the scope of the job description as directed by your supervisor.
