Scenario

You have been asked to work as a sports psychologist for a semi- professional sports team academy. They are trying to educate their athletes on the importance of psychology in sport and you have been asked to create a range of resources to assist with educating the players and helping improve the team’s performance.

GRADING CRITERIA

In order to achieve the grading criteria you must show that you are able to: 2B. P3 Summarise, with relevant examples, methods to increase self-confidence in sport. 2B. P4 Describe, using relevant examples, factors that influence self-efficacy in sport. 2B. You have been given topic boxes as guidelines as to what the students will need to know. These do not have to be boxes, you can be imaginative with how you present this information.

Topic box 1: Subtitle: Types of motivation You need to explain the different types of motivation with sporting examples.

Topic box 2: Subtitle: View on motivation You need to include each of the different views and explain them with relevant sporting examples.

Topic box 3: Subtitle: Achievement Motivation You need to explain what achievement motivation is with a sporting example.

Design You will be given a case study of a sports performer that outlines their self-confidence in their chosen sport.

Using the information from the case study your group must create a PowerPoint which will be presented to the class. In your PowerPoint it is important that you include and explain the following:

Slide 2: - What is the definition of self-efficacy in your own words - An explanation of self- efficacy using sporting examples to back up your definition

Slide 3- 6 (a new slide per factor): - Identify the different factors that have affected your sports performers self-efficacy in their chosen sport - For each factor explain why this has influenced self-efficacy - Back this up with sporting examples from the case study

Your group will present this presentation to the class. You need to be able to answer questions from the class and expand on points from your slides.

Design This leaflet will be used to educate young athletes on why motivation is so important for sports professionals. Make sure that somewhere in your leaflet the following information is displayed: - Definition of motivation (referenced) - Explanation of motivation in your own words - The different types of motivation explained in your own words

- What are the different views of motivation? - For each view write a definition in your own words - For each view, give a sporting example to help explain the type of motivation

- What are the different benefits of motivation on sports performance? - For each benefit, explain why it is a benefit with relevant sporting examples.

- What is the definition of achievement motivation? (referenced) - Explain achievement motivation in your own words with relevant sporting examples

- What are the principles of goal setting? - Explain the SMARTER principle of goal setting in your own words.

- How does this increase motivation? Use examples.
