Bishop Caggiano – meeting with the youth and Synod: Bishop Caggiano will have another meeting with the youth in May but this will be a listening session for the Diocesan Synod. That day he will appoint those who attend to be a part of the Synod so they will need to come to 4 more meetings throughout the year (plus a day of recollection). To those meetings, no new youth will be invited, only those who attended the May meeting. I will send out more information soon but start inviting the young people in your parish. There will be a limited number of people who will be able to go but I will send more information soon. At that meeting, the Bishop will ask them to run to be one of the 25 youth delegates for the Synod. There will be a form for them to fill out and send with some questions that they need to answer. With that, 25 young people will be selected and appointed to be delegates of the Synod. These will be required to attend, the 5 General Sessions of the Synod plus the opening ceremony. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

“Training the New Evangelist for the New Evangelization” Right now there is an exciting project that is underway for the Summer 2014. Casting Nets Ministries, along with Benedictine College, is hosting the “Transform Your World Evangelization Training Camp” for high school youth (classes of 2014-2017) from June 8th-13th on Benedictine's campus. These six days will be led by Casting Nets founders Chris Stewart and Tony Brandt, and feature a dynamic line-up of keynote speakers including Chris Stefanick, Jackie Francois Angel, Jim Beckman, and Maria Cahill. Participants will learn from these speakers how to discuss important religious truths and moral issues, inspire their peers to authentic loving relationships in a chaste lifestyle, develop an authentic prayer life and promote the dignity of human life. This unique hands-on camp experience includes projects focused on teamwork, creativity, digital media, and evangelization as well as daily access to Mass, adoration, and confession. We are looking for high school students who are passionate about their Faith and have a desire to share it with others. In order to provide the best possible formation, the number of participants will be limited. Applications can be submitted online at www.CastingNetsInstitute.com. The cost is $745 and attendees of the “Transform Your World Evangelization Training Camp” who go on to attend Benedictine College will receive a one-time $500 college scholarship. If you are interested in helping us extend this invitation to your high school youth please contact us at 316.641.4050, check out our website at www.CastingNetsInstitute.com, or via email at [email protected] with any questions.
