Chinese 201 Guidelines for the Mid-Term Oral Exam Lessons 1-4

The oral portion of the mid-term is worth 100 points. The instructor will conduct a one-on-one interview with you. You need to be able to do all the tasks listed in the “Learning Objectives” of Lessons 1-4 (p. 1, p. 35, p. 71, and p. 105, TB). Review text materials, previous tests, and lesson notes to help you prepare. Your performance will be evaluated based on your pronunciation, tones, use of vocabulary, use of sentence structures, task completion, ability to understand questions/requests, ability to narrate, ability to describe, and on how substantial your language content is. All answers have to be in complete Chinese sentences. No English is allowed after the interview begins. If you cannot understand the instructor, you may ask by saying “Máfan nín zài shuō yí biàn.” The instructor may only repeat his/her question once. As part of the interview, you need to bring a photo of the celebrity of your choice.
