POST TITLE Marketing Officer

FUNCTION To assist with the marketing and promotion of the Lancashire Wildlife Trust.

RESPONSIBLE TO Marketing Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR Placements and Volunteers

PURPOSE OF POST

This post sits within the Marketing Team with a focus on generating core income for the Trust. The post holder will develop and deliver marketing campaigns to assist in meeting income targets for membership, fundraising and corporate membership through a multi-channel approach.

The Marketing Officer will also support the Marketing Manager in marketing Brockholes Nature Reserve and our other visitor centers, raising the profile and targeting key markets, both online and offline. The role will assist in meeting targets for visitor numbers, and income generation across all areas of the business including events, weddings, conferences, retail and restaurant sales.

The post-holder will monitor and analyse campaigns, and maximize the potential of our CRM system to engage our supporters and customers.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Work with the Marketing Manager to contribute to the marketing strategy, and the wider strategy of the Marketing Team.

2. To understand our key audiences and ensure all our marketing communications, products and services are relevant and targeted.

3. To contribute to membership and fundraising targets by working across the Marketing Team to deliver campaigns.

4. To support the branding, marketing and tourism aspects of our visitor centers.

5. To work with the membership support and member recruitment officers to deliver effective membership recruitment and retention campaigns.

6. To support the generation of earned income for the Trust, working across departments to achieve this. 7. To support the development and implementation of the brand identity of the Lancashire Wildlife Trust. To ensure the brand is embraced and understood by employees and volunteers, by nurturing the brand values and profile.

8. To support the maintenance and growth of our online presence, maintaining and developing the Brockholes and Trust websites, delivering our social media strategy and planning and creating email marketing campaigns. Creating engaging and inspiring copy to drive conversion rates.

9. To analyse and apply audience insights and evaluation to the marketing planning process, making full use the CRM system .

10. To support the Senior Communications Officer in dealing with the press and providing marketing advice and support to Trust projects.

11. To support campaigning work within our Trust and the Wildlife Trusts Network.

12. To support the development and delivery of Fundraising Appeals.

13. To undertake all other duties and responsibilities consistent with the objectives of the post and as instructed by the Marketing Manager.

POST SPECIFICATION

The post holder will need to support the implementation of marketing strategies, monitor the success of their work and contribute to increasing earned income.

The post holder will have to undertake a range of duties with a substantial degree of personal responsibility and autonomy. These will include:

 Regular liaison with a range of contacts. These include employees and officers of the Wildlife Trust and other bodies, media contacts and all existing and potential donors.  Maintaining up to date knowledge of all relevant areas of marketing and communications.  Perform against targets.  Travel around the region and occasionally beyond.

Salary: £18000-£21000 per annum dependent upon experience.

Pension: The Trust contributes to the NEST Pension Scheme. Full details will be provided.

Hours of Work: Full Time 37 ½ hours per week. Normal working pattern will be 9.00am – 5.00pm. Overtime is not paid but time off in lieu may be taken, where appropriate, as the post will involve some evening or weekend working.

Duration of post: This post is offered on a permanent basis. All new employees undertake a probationary period of 6 months, in which time they are expected to demonstrate their suitability for the post.

Holidays: 25 days, plus 3 occasional days per annum, increasing with length of service.
