PRESIDENT'S REPORT

I am pleased to present my first report as the 7th and new President. Off-field saw some significant achievements. In December we were delighted to officially open the Ian Crawford room; some 100 dignitaries from Cricket Victoria, local MP's, Stonnington City councillors, CEO and staff and PCC luminaries, attended a function to celebrate our No. 1 ticket holder, Legend and inspiration. We also hosted the 3rd Annual Stonnington Gift, under the chairmanship of Peter Norman, OAM. Peter is chairman of the Bendigo Bank, East Malvern branch, who are splendid supporters of PCC. May I take this opportunity to congratulate Peter on being awarded an honour in the Queen's Birthday list; a fitting and well-deserved tribute to his long and dedicated, community service. In February 2013, after 4 years of hard work, under the direction and leadership of the selfless and tireless Phil Williamson, we officially opened our new electronic scoreboard. This state-of-the-art facility is without equal in the State, if not the whole of the country. Prahran Cricket Club is extremely proud to name this scoreboard in honour of Mr. David Mandie. David had a 70 year association with his beloved PCC and it was a great privilege to ask his daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Danos to preside over the celebrations. Evelyn has also accepted our invitation to become our Patron-in-Chief and we are delighted to have her continued sponsorship and support. Our Committee has some outstanding and dedicated individuals. Firstly, Mr. Phil Williamson, our immediate past-President and current vice-President. I have spent a lifetime in cricket and Phil is the equal of any administrator in the game. His contributions to PCC are truly amazing: Stonnington City Council relationships, Toorak Park User Group, Scoreboard planner and inspiration, Stonnington Gift driver, Curator and financial supporter. The Club could hardly function without your efforts, Phil. Certainly my role as President could not have been possible without your extra-ordinary commitment. Please accept the thanks of everyone at the Club. Furthermore, as a result of the strong bonds created over the years by Phil and Ian Crawford with the Council, I can announce another significant achievement. We have secured a new oval for the 3rds and 4ths! After more than 50 years playing at Como, we have the use of Righetti Oval. This was made possible by the merger of East Malvern and Tooronga CCs. My thanks also goes to Mr. John Gilbert, President of EMTCC, who gave us invaluable assistance in securing the new facility. Finally, we have reached the standard necessary for a Premier Cricket Club. Without the co-operation and support of the Stonnington Council, this would not have happened. Our sincere and heartfelt thanks go to everyone involved. In June 2013, the council also started renovations to the Bleachers, and they will soon remove our old and dilapidated scoreboard. The happiest recipients of this news will be John Raglus and his sons, who have operated this for 10 years, at great risk to themselves. Finally, the Council have provided money for new light-towers, which should be operational by Christmas, 2013. The power will be enough to stage night games and Cricket Victoria has already expressed interest in staging high-level matches at Toorak Park. I would be remiss if I didn't thank our hard-working committee members, our one and only Mr. Jukes and our wonderful mums. We are blessed to have such dedicated, cheerful and generous support which underpins the friendly and pleasing atmosphere in and around our beloved Club. My sincere thanks also go to our Administration Manager, John Zarb, who works extremely hard on our behalf and goes about his tasks professionally, enthusiastically and tirelessly. To our Sponsors, please accept our utmost thanks. John's report will pay particular tribute to you, without whom we could not perform at Premier Cricket level. Our on-field performances were, in my opinion, very disappointing. The 1st Eleven performed poorly in the 1-day final and even worse in the 2-day semi-final. With players of the calibre involved, we missed another opportunity to be successful. The 2nd Eleven did well to reach the 2-day final, but also under-performed on the day. The coach will report on the performance of all our teams, so I will leave you to read his analysis.

Page 6 Prahran Cricket Club (Incorporated) 134th Annual Report and Financial Statement 2012/13

Your committee has taken significant steps to help lift our performance from next season. We have strengthened our coaching and Cricket Operations dramatically. John Raglus will become our Director of Cricket Operations, with overall responsibility for all on-field activities. We have recruited Mr. Peter DiVenuto as senior assistant coach and Mr. Alastair Gumley is returning as Chairman-of-Selectors and assistant coach. Paul Sealey, Bryce McGain, Paul McMahon and Dave Longhurst will continue to support our Head Coach, Andrew Walton. We will also improve our Junior Development Program, under the continued leadership of Liam Murphy. Andrew Walton's report will talk further about this exciting new approach. At the AGM in July 2013, I am pleased to say that the committee will announce two new Legends of the Club and two new entrants into the Hall-of-Fame. I will also propose a motion to accept five new Life Members of the Club. These accolades are the best way in which PCC can recognise all those who help make our Club the happy, professional and leading outfit we are. Every recipient is not only deserving of our gratitude, they join an exclusive group of respected and cherished members. This year also sees the departure of several players, four of whom are going to play at Sub-District Clubs and I want to make mention of each of them. Leigh Alford, Shane Townsend, James Wild and Chris Williamson have served us extremely well, on and off the field, over many years. Thank you gentlemen, we will miss you and we wish you every success in the future. I close my remarks by thanking everyone who supported me in my first year as President. It is indeed a privilege to associate with so many wonderful people. I look forward to helping our beloved Club succeed and prosper in the future.

ADMINISTRATION MANAGER'S REPORT

Firstly my congratulations must go to our Head Coach Andrew Walton who took charge in his third season lifting the bar once again to take the Club to overall Third in the Club Championship! This was our best result ever! We also had our First Eleven reaching the One Day Final once again going down to the highly- fancied . Whilst the First and Second Eleven teams played Two Day Finals at year's end, combined with the blooding of new players into our First Eleven side. Premierships, as we know, are bloody hard to win but with a few new additions to our Coaching Staff next Season, I believe we will give ourselves every chance of being there in the firing line. I do congratulate Andrew's appointment also for the next two seasons. Once again I do appreciate Andrew's support with the electronic media and his continual development of the Prahran Cricket Club Website. Thanks to Andrew also - Our Twitter account now has well over 1100 followers an increase of over 600 in the last twelve months! I do remember Andrew telling me not that long ago that if you don't embrace social media you will be left behind. He wasn't wrong there! To our assistant Coaches David Longhurst, Bryce McGain, Paul McMahon and Paul Sealey thank you for assistance towards our playing group; your help is very much appreciated by all and we hope you can continue to assist us into the future. To our club Captains Sam Coates, Chris Williamson, Ben Richardson and Daniel Barnes thank you for your seasons, it can be a thankless job at times wearing many hats and bringing individuals together to combine as one on Match Day. Special mention to Sam Coates who surpassed the record for the number of dismissals by a First Eleven -keeper in a season by capturing 46 in total combined with 29 of those being and 17 ! To Chris Williamson congratulations on taking your side through to the Grand Final only to go down to Camberwell Magpies. I also thank Third Eleven Skipper Ben Richardson who retired at the end of the season to make way for a new skipper next season. Thank you Ben for your efforts both on and off the field. The Club says thank you goodbye and best wishes to our Second Eleven Skipper Chris Williamson who also headed up our Social Committee as he takes up a position with the Oakleigh Cricket Club next season. Chris undertook many duties in this time at the club both on and off the field his organisation will be sorely missed. Joining Chris will be Shane Townsend who has been at the club now for four seasons and is also our Head Curator at Toorak Park. Club Champion winner from 2012/13 James Wild will also be moving on to Sub District Cricket with Ormond and Fast Bowler Leigh Alford to Malvern. On behalf of all at the Club we wish the boys all the best with the next phase of their Cricket Careers and hope to see them back whenever the opportunity next presents. • Away from the field the Club it was another tough season off the field with expenditure up once again and overall income down on the previous season. • We do see some positive signs ahead though in particular at Toorak Park with the Capital Works program in full swing which includes the improvement to the Dry Area Bleachers, New Light Towers to be erected this year, painting and re-carpeting of the Lux Pavilion Dining Area which has already become complete. A full pavilion upgrade is also to be fast tracked with the City Of Stonnington wanting Toorak Park to become a show piece in the area which is great news for our Club including a new oval and facility… Yes we are finally off Como Park can you believe it! • Our Club joined forces and become part of a new Strategic Alliance with the Victorian Blind Cricket Association just prior to the start of our 2012/13 season. Assistance at various training sessions, coaching clinics and talks are some of the things that have already transpired with more to come. My Thanks goes to President Rod Pritchard and Secretary Nick Pepper for making this happens. Along with the VBCA our club also is aligned with Tooronga East Malvern Cricket Club and my thanks also

goes to President John Gilbert who has been a great friend to us at Prahran and is keen to use us as the direct pathway for any talented juniors aspiring to play Premier Cricket. Without the help of the following, I'd hate to think where we may be: • Bendigo Bank East Malvern Community Bank Branch Peter Norman and Peter Wolf. • Mrs Evelyn Danos and her company James Richardson Duty Free. • Cricket Victoria • Stonnington City Council: Chris Brown, Tony Oulton and Ninetta Inocca including Peter Murray and Shane Townsend Head Curator and his staff. • Teska Carson Real Estate Richmond: Mr Ion Teska • Mercedes Benz Toorak: Glenn Sharp and his team • Melbourne Sports Books: Santo Caruso • Mad Mex Restaurant Windsor • Grill'd Burgers Malvern • Pizza Capers Malvern • Caulfield Glasshouse Tabaret • Margaret and Peter Lidstrom c/o Lidstrom Clyne Travel Sandringham • Moti Mahal Indian Restaurant • Wignells Heating and Cooking Abbotsford • Hydralyte Sports • Recover Sports Erin O'Connor and Staff. • Special Donations: Arthur Davie, Neil Smyth, Andrew Warne Smith, Phil Williamson and Ronald Serry, David Jones, David Jukes, Tony Hannebery. Thank you for all that you do over and above. • We lost our good friend, legend, life member, patron and wonderful committeeman and supporter Andrew Warne-Smith in August of 2012. His sad passing was a timely reminder to all at our club about leaving a legacy. That he did, he helped us in time of need when our club was down and contributed a lot of his own into the club along with the Late Great David Mandie and our own David Jukes. We will not forget you Andrew! Not long after the season had finished a cheque of $10,000 made its way from Andrew's Estate. We thank Andrew for dedicating his life to Prahran. • All of our Sam Loxton and Club Members that make a purchase every year and support the club just like our Sponsors and our Donors we are forever grateful to you. Refer to Club website. • The club once again enjoyed the second of its Sam Loxton Club lunches. The lunch was held at The Heroes in Toorak on Friday 31st May and Guest Speakers were Mr Jon Anderson as MC, Rodney Hogg and Prahran's own Bryce McGain. A nice profit was made on the day from over 70 attendees. My heartfelt thanks once again goes to Mr Tony Hannebery, a Sam Loxton club member and a great individual who weaved his magic for us taking out time to organise the day. Tony provided his own facility at a reduced cost and the guest speakers at no charge. We look forward to doing again bigger and better next season. The Prahran Cricket Club would be lost without its band of volunteers and special people, may I take a moment to personally thank them: • Peter Norman and the Bendigo Bank East Malvern Community Branch for their ongoing help towards the Stonnington Gift. Peter is the current chairman of our Committee and does a power of work along with his committee consisting of Andrew Muhlhan who pulls many athletes from far and wide

to compete, Secretary Phil Williamson who once again provided excellent back up to Peter. Our Stonnington Council members Ninetta Inocca and Ombretta Zanetti who continue to provide the support needed to ensure a smooth running of the event and our Treasurer Rick Sykes who takes care of the entire account keeping. • Our hardworking Kitchen Staff on a Thursday Night consisting of Annie and Mike Murphy, Brett and Leanne Wilcox, Helen Taylor, Jan Cassidy. Their culinary delights continue to keep our players and members happy on selection night throughout the whole cricket season. • John Raglus our Chairman of Selectors always entertaining to listen to the teams on a Thursday Night. John and his Family took out the award for the Best Clubman for their efforts over the last decade on the Old Manual Scoreboard; this task is no longer as the Brand New David Mandie Scoreboard is now in full swing and the best in the Premier Competition. Refer to the website for the full story. • Speaking of the new Scoreboard, I couldn't go through this report without mentioning the name Phil Williamson our hard working Vice President. Phil drove this project from day one and for the last two years had to battle many curve balls that were thrown his way but this did not deter him. His work as a Vice President, grounds keeper, liaison with Council, the Stonnington Gift and much much more to our club came rewarded at seasons end tying for the Ian Crawford award for the Best Clubman with John Raglus. This was ever so appropriate for both congratulations Gents. • Karl Hieser our Second Eleven scorer who just keeps on keeping on. Your words of wisdom are always gladly appreciated Karlos! • Nigel Hutton for his efforts in taking photos and video production which adds another dimension to our Club. • Chris Seymour and Rosemary Schlittler in preparation of all the First Eleven Lunches and afternoon teas throughout the season. By far the best in the Competition. • My Right hand man David Jukes…60 plus years of wonderful service and Prahran Cricket Club is like Family and Home, you are a wealth of knowledge and a pleasure to work with my friend! • Graeme Hole for never saying no to me when in need of a hand. Always there to assist the club. Graeme also took out the AA Horneman award this season for his efforts at Prahran, including taking four weeks off work to clean up and paint the historic Parish Room. Your efforts in doing this won't be forgotten. • Liam Murphy in charge of our junior development program. We thank you and your assistant coaches for the control and management of our Junior Development Program including our Inner East Scorpion Teams which also included Coaches Will Long and Rhys Adams. Both Ian Crawford and Peter Lidstrom filled roles on the committee. • Jordan Klotnick who was injured all season but filled the role of Team Manager with the First Eleven, your smiling face is always good to see each match day Pablo. The Club Appreciated it. • Chris Williamson and his team for taking charge of social events, in particular with the Annual Ball which was another fun night again and continues to be a hit amongst our members. • Our continued outstanding publicity from our good friends in the Print Media Paul Amy and Brad Beitzel from Leader Newsgroup and Ewan McRae from the Review Melbourne Community Newspaper. Very generous once again during the season covering scores, stories and wonderful colored photos promoting Prahran Cricket Club. Thanks boys. • Rhys Adams the Editor of our popular Club Newsletter Loose Shots. • Ian Crawford, our number One Ticket Holder thank you once again for all you do in the background for our club - you are always happy to assist my friend! Nothing is ever too hard. You now have your own room named after you at Toorak Park. What an honour and well deserved!

OBITUARIES

Andrew Warne-Smith

Andrew was a member of the Prahran Cricket Club for over 60 years prior to his sad passing. He commenced by playing in our lower elevens and then became the First Eleven scorer, scoring the 1954-55 Premiership. He moved onto Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, Committeeman, Vice- President, Life Member, Patron, and was ultimately honoured by being bestowed with Club Legend status in the Club's Hall of Fame. Indeed, a most wonderful contribution. Unswerving loyalty and dedication were ingrained within Andrew; he also had an amazing ability to listen carefully and intently at all times, this being one of his particular attributes. Andrew's enormous sacrifice given in time, energy and effort together with his generous personal financial assistance, can never, ever be forgotten. The Prahran Cricket Club shall forever be indebted to Andrew - words can never be enough to repay his loyalty and kindness. A real True Blue.

COACH'S REPORT

A year ago, reflecting upon the words of the great Hungarian football coach – Bela Gutman – that "the third year is always fatal" – we decided that as a group we would defy this logic and challenged the notion by giving full commitment to our 11/12 playing list into the 12/13 season. There would be no recruiting. We would be faithful to the core created and allow these fine True Blues to advance unhindered. During season 12/13 we were required to handle many unforeseen obstacles to several significant True Blues. We endured injuries to key players in Seymour and Taylor from the 1st XI along with Cane, Floca, Hutton, Klotnick, Majumdar, Mills, Nyary, Pike and Woodgate that impacted our overall depth across the grades. We managed the loss in experience of McGuinness and Sealey. We handled form slumps at various times from Bricker, Everett, Long, Murphy, O'Connor and Schlittler. We voted as a collective in majority favour, to accept Mascarenhas. We handled the ongoing availability issues for players with school and exam commitments. A club that is lacking in pride and fortitude would have suffered considerably with these regular complications to such valuable and prized players. At the end of the season on the overall ladder, our 1st XI finished in 2nd position (14-1-4) and the 2nd XI finished in 1st position (12-2-3). In the overall Club Championship, we finished in 3rd position, our best ever. We have finished top 5 in the Club Championship for the last three seasons, the only club to do so. Our 1st and 2nd XI finished in the finals together for the third season in a row. All performances collectively never achieved before. We prepared well with a pre-season camp in Brisbane, investing prizemoney from 11/12 performance into player development. We gained enthusiasm in the early season with promise from Morrey, Serry, Taylor and Wilcox. We gained validation and justification in the role restructuring of Bull and Nyary to lead the innings. We saw glimpses of untapped talent in Barnes, Dewitt, Kramersh, Parsons and Van der Merwe. We received reward in the ongoing complete performance as a player and a true team mate to all True Blues with Morrey. We were enthralled at the career best performances over the season from: • Bryce McGain – 54 wickets @ 13.50, SR = 27.3, ER = 2.96 • Rhys Adams – 48 wickets @ 14.15, SR = 29.3, ER = 2.89 • Sam Coates – 46 dismissals, 29 catches & 17 stumpings But alas we were unable to achieve any victories where flags were at stake. We were also narrowly removed from competing in additional finals in the T20 for the 1st XI and harshly in the 2nd XI by run rates of 0.33 in the One Day Final and 0.21 in the T20 Final. Pondering these results since, the missing ingredient in being a genuine contender, to challenge Melbourne who claimed seven flags this season, could be thought as hardness or resilience. The internal energy exists; this has been witnessed & expressed enough on social occasions. Do we dare to transfer the words, bravado and bluster into bold and honest performances against all opposition, in all conditions?

CAPTAINS' REPORTS

1st Eleven

Whilst we didn't celebrate a much-desired premiership this season, the First XI has taken a major and hopefully permanent step forward. Our First team called on a total of 18 players this season (only 15 in 11/12), including a further 3 debutants. This year we had 12 batsmen work through our top 6 positions and 8 bowlers contribute 50 or more overs for the season. Although our team structure had significant change, we still managed to finish 2nd on the table and compete in both 1-day (GF) and 2-day finals (SF). In total we lost just 4 games, just 1 more than last season. Our ability to maintain on-field success throughout player turnover is a testament to the depth and quality of people in the senior group. We now expect to win, every week, regardless of external opposition or internal weekly selections. Adam Bull broke through with a career best season including a maiden century. Jack Taylor showed us a glimpse of the future before Christmas and Nick Morrey was outstanding against quality opposition after Christmas. Our bowlers were the backbone of our team this season. We consistently bowled out the opposition. We constantly dictated the game to the opposition batsmen through sound planning, discipline and outstanding execution. Individually we had the best bowlers in the competition in Bryce McGain and Rhys Adams, rewarded with selection in the competition's Team of the Year. You couldn't ask for better examples of preparation, consistency, competitiveness and skill. Bryce and Rhys were superbly backed by whoever got the ball - Daniel Salpietro, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Stephen Seymour, Leigh Alford, Steven Singh and Matt Wilcox in his first year. Whilst we didn't enjoy the ultimate success this year, I'm still very proud of our achievements. It's an exciting team to lead, we have great fun and many laughs. I must thank all my team mates for their commitment. I would also like to recognise and thank our dedicated support team: • Andrew Walton and his coaching team for leaving no stone unturned in our quest to be the best we can. I doubt many around would be as dedicated and committed to winning as ours. • Our match day support James Higgs (scorer), Jordie Klotnick (Team Manager), and our physio Erin O'Connor. • John Raglus and the team who assisted in both the manual and electronic scoreboards all season. • Our "Team Mums" for providing the best Thursday evening and match day catering in the competition. • Our unofficial "apprentice" groundsman, Phil Williamson, for going above and beyond in assisting ground staff every Saturday morning. • Mr David Dukes and John Zarb for their match day support. • President David Jones and his hard working committee. • And our loyal and committed group of supporters.

2nd Eleven

Season 2012/13 was a season where the 2nd XI enjoyed strong performances across all 3 formats. Narrowly missing out on the T20 and 1-day finals and then ultimately missing out in the 2-day Grand Final. The group was able to maintain high standards throughout the season which resulted in only losing 4 games. This season we saw the continued the development of many of the younger players in the group. Matthew Wilcox and Nick Morrey were rewarded for consistent performances with both bat and ball with their 1st XI debuts. Jacob Serry was asked to open the batting and showed no fear in taking on anything the opposition threw down. Tom Cameron's glove work was a level above and he also played some valuable innings when asked to bat at 3 towards the end of the year. I would like to make special mention of a couple of the 'older' players in the team this season. Michael Nyary's energy was one of the key factors in us performing so well this year. His attitude and fight is infectious within the group. Michael's transformation from opening bowler to opening bat was on show when he smashed a handy Geelong attack for 86 not out on a green track only to be cruelly struck down with a serious hamstring injury. Fitting to Michael's attitude he fought back better than ever when he bludgeoned 183 against a helpless Hawthorn attack. James Wild was also another who had a strong year with the bat, ball and in the field. Wildy was also terrific in helping to develop the younger players in the team to become future 1st XI regulars. I'd like to thank Wildy for making my job a whole lot easier throughout the year, there is no doubt we would not have been so dominant without his influence on the group. I'd like to thank Andrew Walton, John Raglus, David Jones and his committee for giving me the opportunity to lead the side again. It certainly is an enjoyable role in helping to develop the future of the club. Thanks also to our team physio Jay for managing to keep me injury-free all season, as well as Julian Wiener for his continued support and advice. I'd also like to say a special thanks to the match day support team of Phil Williamson, David Jukes and John Zarb. Our job as players is made easier with their hard work and we can't thank them enough for the hours they put in to allow us to do what we love. Last but not least I'd like to thank Karl for his work with the scorebook again this season. Karl has been a permanent fixture around the group for the past 16 seasons and hopefully we can deliver that elusive premiership for you soon. Finally thanks to every coach, committee member, volunteer sponsor and player who were involved in making the club so strong on and off the field. Cheers, Willow

3rd Eleven

It was a difficult season for the Third Eleven this year with us finishing 16th. Whilst our ladder position wasn't ideal, there are a number of positives to be taken out of the year from a developing/young cricket team. 1 A number of young players (average age of below 17) stepping up to the 3rd Eleven and contributing: Irabaan Majumdar, Blake Parsons, Daniel Van Der Merwe, Peter Cassidy, Leon Dewitt, Justin Kramersh, Dylan Rhys-Jones & Stefan Lidstrom. With the development of the listed players above, the club will be held in good stead for years to come. 2 The development of Tom Cameron, William Long, Darcy O'Conner, Michael Nyary, Michael Singh, Rowan Bricker, Trev Bauer and Adam Hutton (injured but was still pressing for 2nd Eleven). All the above mentioned players where playing 3rd Eleven in the 11/12 season and have progressed to consistently playing 2nd Eleven and all had rolls within the finals campaign for the 2nd Eleven. 3 Beating the 2nd placed (St Kilda) and narrowly losing to Footscray, Melbourne (20/20), Geelong and North Melbourne. If we had turned these narrow losses into wins, it could have been a different year and we could have been pressing come finals time. There is a lot to look forward next year not only for the 3rd Eleven group, but also the club in general. It was disappointing that we where unable to carry on our successes from the previous year, but with the youth and talent that the club currently has, success is only around the corner. I'd also like to acknowledge the support of Phil Williamson, Peter Lidstrom & Andrew Walton who provide a vast amount of support through out the year, on and off the field. Their assistance was very much appreciated and without their assistance it would have been difficult. Special thanks to David Jukes for his support throughout my time as 3rd Eleven captain. I have also announced my retirement from playing district cricket due to work and personal commitments, but I do look forward to remaining around the club to support its success moving forward. Thank you and regards

4th Eleven

Success is ultimately judged by performance and results, but when I look back on the 4th XI season completed we must also consider the process undertaken, the exposure young cricketers received towards their development and of course the improvements. Overall the season saw ladder position progression from 17th in 2011/12 to 10th in 2012/13 highlighted by two outright victories, one being an extremely thrilling reverse outright. As is often the case in a 4th XI side we suffered from multiple side changes on a weekly basis that made consistent cricket and games structure difficult at times, which 43 different players representing the side throughout the season. The flip side of this was fantastic exposure to our youth received by playing this level of cricket at such a young age. The team highlights for the season were the two outright victories, the first against North Melbourne away where Greg Connor led the side perfectly, and the second coming in the last round against 5th placed Hawthorn-Monash. The Hawthorn-Monash victory was extremely pleasing given a very young side for the last match and the team having to chase down a total in quick time to achieve the reverse decision. Another notable outing was an enthralling match v St Kilda away, where after being sent in we were able to make 279 on the back of a brilliant 82 by Adam Hutton and a last wicket partnership of 42 by Josh Barnes and the evergreen Graeme Hole. After an early wicket we expected the large total to be enough but after being hit around the park by their number 3 and at 1/170 at one point 279 didn’t seem like much anymore. Some excellent bowling post the break by Michael Singh who captured 3 wickets saw the good guys record a really hard fought team win against an arch rival. From an individual perspective I would like firstly congratulate the award winners for the season, Ben Miller with the bowling, 22 @ 14.41 and Josh Barnes who won the batting with 161 @23. Ben's bowling was very consistent during the year, attacking off stump, forcing batsmen to think every ball, and he was duly rewarded by taking 6/15 against Camberwell at home with 3 bowled and 2 LBW. For Josh, in his first season of district cricket, he spent time in the 3rds as well as with our side and also carried a fair bowling workload, so to be able to also consistently provide with the bat, especially late order partnerships was very pleasing. The bowling was certainly our strength, on only 3 occasions was over 200 scored against the side and this was a huge focus for the group and regardless of team changes ingrained in what we delivered. The attack was led by Graeme Hole who gave everything for the team every week. I would like to thank Holey for his leadership with the ball, understanding of game situations and junior development, along with his tremendous performances yet again. We got the joy of seeing some great debuts during the season; firstly Blake Parsons' at the age of 13. Unfortunately I didn't get to hang onto Blake for long as his 6 wickets @ 13 bowling left arm spin saw him progress to the 3rd XI, but his bowling was something we will remember and talk about for years to come as he continues his march up the grades. Similar to this was the debut of Daniel Van Der Merwe who at 16 bowled with great pace, venom and knowledge above is years. Daniel also left quickly with 8 wickets @ 13 as well. In addition to these, Jack Davies's came on in leaps and bounds and was excellent during the year, and Ben Miller, Josh Barnes, Clinton Bricker and Michael Singh were fantastic when they were playing with the 4th XI. Unfortunately the batting was our Achilles heel for the season and we lacked consistency, ability to bat for long periods week in week out and on occasions discipline. This is often the case in young developing sides, but certain highlights through the year certainly showed the ability is there if we apply ourselves mentally in the future. Early in the season Adam Hutton and Alex Manteit were fantastic, both scoring two half centuries before progressing to higher grades. After that we only had 5 more 50s for the entire year, 2 to new player Leon Dewitt whose brief start to district cricket in 4th grade with quite memorable and then one each to Josh Barnes, Jackson Wood and Jack Davies. From the debutants we saw great promise from Josh Ball, Oscar Sargeant, and Irabaan Majumdar and Vlad Floca showed the they have the right ability to progress.

Page 25 Prahran Cricket Club (Incorporated) 134th Annual Report and Financial Statement 2012/13

As this was my first season at Prahran I relied on the assistance, support and guidance of many people and would like to acknowledge and thank them. Early in the season Chris Connor and Nigel Hutton were great help when Greg and Adam were in the side. Special mention though must go to David Stevenson, who not only had the long drive to training and games with Nick, scored and managed the side for the entire season and even played towards the end when we needed some extra support. We also had representation from a couple of players who travelled all the way from Cobram, thank you to Zac Nichols, Stephen Leitch and of course their families for making the huge effort to support the club. From a playing perspective, whilst the side was very young, I did lean on the more experienced players for leadership in Greg Connor, who did captain the side through the year, Graeme Hole and Jackson Wood, thank you for your support. Off the field I would like to thank Andrew Walton for his ongoing support, communication and faith in myself, the initial off season discussions and vision of Andrew's was a huge reason for the decision to join the club. Final thanks must also go to those that give up their time to ensure the club runs as it does, John Zarb, David Jukes and Phil Williamson all did a marvellous job and ensured I couldn't go wrong in the preparation and to President David Jones, thank you also for the support to both myself individually throughout the season and the great fashion the committee conducts itself in. Overall I will look back on my first season at Prahran with great joy, the highlights and promise of what is to come from individuals and the side in the future in extremely exciting. Here to a brighter and bigger 2013/14!

FINANCE REPORT

INDEPENDENT AUDIT REPORT TO THE MEMBERS OF PRAHRAN CRICKET CLUB INCORPORATED

Scope

I have audited the financial statements of the Prahran Cricket Club Incorporated for the year ended 31 May 2013. The Club's Committee is responsible for the preparation and presentation of the financial statements and the information they contain. I have conducted an independent audit of these financial statements in order to express an opinion on them to the members.

The financial statements have been prepared for the purpose of fulfilling the requirements of the Associations Incorporation Act (Vic). I disclaim any assumption of responsibility for any reliance on this report or the financial statements to which it relates to any person other than the members, or for any purpose other than that for which it was prepared.

My audit has been conducted in accordance with Australian Auditing Standards to provide reasonable assurance as to whether the accounts are free of material misstatement. My procedures included examination, on a test basis, of evidence supporting the amounts and other disclosures in the financial statements, and the evaluation of significant accounting estimates. These procedures have been undertaken to form an opinion as to whether, in all material respects, the financial statements are presented fairly in accordance with the accounting policies adopted by the Committee so as to present a view of the Club which is consistent with my understanding of its financial position and the results of its operations. These policies do not require the application of all Accounting Standards and other mandatory professional reporting requirements in .

The audit opinion expressed in this report has been formed on the above basis.

Qualifications

As an audit procedure it was not practical to extend my examination of income received beyond the accounting for the amounts received and banked as shown by the books and records of the Club presented for audit. This situation is normal for entities of this type.

.

Qualified Audit Opinion

In my opinion, except for the effects on the financial statements of the matter referred to in the qualification paragraph, the financial statements present fairly in accordance with applicable Accounting Standards the financial position of the Prahran Cricket Club Incorporated as at 31 May 2013 and the results of its operations for the year then ended.
