Syllabus

Course Description

1. A study of the art and science of biblical interpretation. This course will prepare Pastors, Ministers, lay Ministry, and believers to gain a better understanding of the principles and rules regarding understanding, interpreting and translating the Word of God.

1. Assigned reading from the book “Introduction to Hermeneutucs” by Eduardo Iglesias 2. Powerpoint/PDF files prepared by Instructor. These will be available through the class website. http://reedleyapostolic.com/wordpress_d

Tests

1. There will be (3) three quizzes administered at the beginning of each class, this quiz will be on the material discussed in class in the previous session. Each quiz will be worth (10) ten points. a. If a student misses or fails a quiz they may take it during the break at the next class session. b. There is only one retake allow. 2. The Final examination will draw directly from class discussions and Powerpoint presentation. a. If a student does not achieve a passing grade, they are allowed one retake scheduled the next Monday. The maximum grade a re-take is allowed is a C passing grade. b. If a student is absent on the day of the test, this will constitute a “0%” grade for the test, the student will be able to re-take the exam but again only to a maximum grade of 70% passing.

Research Paper 1. One research paper will be due on the 4th Monday of the class. If it not turned in on that date it may be turned in on the day of the final exam with a full grade penalty. A choice of topic will be provided by the instructor. If this paper is not turned in by the date of the Final Exam it will constitute a 0% grade and automatic failure of the class.

Class Requirements

1. Includes  Attendance – You cannot miss more than one day (2 Sessions) of class for any reason.  Punctuality – We will be starting on time  You are required to have your textbook and Bible.

Class Grade

1. Your class grade will be determined as follows:  Final Exam = 50%  Research Paper = 35%  Quiz 1 = 5%  Quiz 2 = 5%  Quiz 3 = 5%
