Job Title Team Leader/Community Fundraising
Reporting To Head of Fundraising and Regional Development
Department/Location Post sits within the Fundraising Department. Based at out Winston’s Wish Head Office in Cheltenham but also expected to travel to our hubs in West Sussex and Greater Manchester
Main Purpose To grow manage & develop the Community fundraising Income stream to support sustainable funding and support for WW across the UK
Main Responsibilities Agree with the Head of Fundraising, and in consultation with the Community Fundraising team, realistic but challenging targets for community fundraising. Lead the Community Fundraising team, in consultation with the Head of Fundraising, to devise and deliver an annual and multi-year strategy to meet agreed income targets. Manage a team of 5 community & events fundraisers based in different locations, creating a cohesive team where success and experience is shared and fundraisers support each other effectively. Put in place a strong management framework for the team that helps to build confidence, independence and effectiveness. Support new Community Fundraisers to start and expand community fundraising in new areas Working with members of the Community Fundraising team, broaden the range of fundraising ideas that can be offered to those who wish to fundraise; Develop an agreed approach to ensure an appropriate allocation of staff time based on likely income from each community fundraising initiative/project. Encourage the development of local fundraising advisory & supporter groups recruiting individuals who can open doors to those who are able to raise money. Work closely with National Initiatives staff to roll out initiatives nationwide and use these as a platform on which to build successful local fundraising. Develop relationships with key national community organisations both those that are well known e.g. Scouts and guides, WI, Rotary Club and those that are less so e.g. Soroptimists, The Townswomen’s Guild etc to support local approaches. Develop a personal portfolio of fundraising initiatives, with an income target agreed with the Head of Fundraising, that compliments those of the Community Fundraising team and builds expertise in new areas of community fundraising. Keep up to date with new initiatives and developments in the area of community and local corporate fundraising and incorporate this knowledge into the expansion of the team’s work. Enlarge the team as WW expands into new areas. Manage an agreed expenditure budget in compliance with WW procedures and ensure timely reporting and forecasting. Working with other Fundraising Team leaders and the Head of Fundraising, ensure that there is clarity as to how overlap areas (e.g. those raising money through running) are supported and credited. Assess and deliver as appropriate local profile raising events to prompt the development of local community fundraising. Work with the communications team to raise the profile of WW’s community fundraising events and activities

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Community & Events Fundraising Team Leader
Community & Events Fundraising Team Leader - June 2015 Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required Essential Desirable
A minimum of 5 years community fundraising experience (including from companies and event/challenge fundraising) with a proven track record for E meeting income targets.
Experience of staff management and distance working. E
Experience of bringing together and integrating disparate staff members and activities. E
Experience of increasing the cost-effectiveness of fundraising initiatives E
Experience meeting with and presenting to high-level supporters both in E person and in writing.
Experience of accurately forecasting and meeting income targets and of E managing expenditure budgets.
Strong communication skills both written and verbal with an ability to produce concise and persuasive prose and deliver motivational presentations E
Ability to identify income generating opportunities and respond quickly, E innovatively and successfully
Strong organisation administrative/prioritising skills. E
Ability to work in a team environment, to motivate and facilitate others. E
