Chair: Ansina Durham Recorder: Ansina Durham Rep Attendance: Ansina Durham, Donanna McKinstry, Dawn Wendland, Connie Lancaster, Hannah Clark, Kelle Johnson, and Sara Ngakoutou. Exec Attendance: Merry Olson and Anita Tatge

Meeting called to order to order at 2:05 p.m.

December meeting minutes were approved (Motion by Kelle Johnson, second by Merry Olson).

Executive Committee Report: Anita Tatge reported that the PACE Executive Committee is seeking input from members regarding how they can be of service to you. Their focus is providing opportunities that will be of value to CSI employees. Please encourage your co-workers to take the short survey. Tina Standlee has taken over doing the WOWs while Ann Keane is gone. Please email your WOWs to [email protected] .

New Year’s Resolutions - In December Becky Ross asked the PACE reps to think about PACE resolutions and bring their ideas to the January meeting. Dawn Wendland suggested that we do a monthly campus wide building focus introducing the employees that work in each building and what services they provide.

PACE Holiday Luncheon: Canned Food Drive - The food drive was successful again this year with 12+ boxes of canned goods being donated by college employees. Community Action picked up the canned goods after the event. Event food – Donanna reported that approximately the same amount of employees (300-350) partook in the holiday meal as last year. This year’s leftover food was donated to the Salvation Army. Entertainment - Next year there will be some adjustments made. It was brought to Tamara Harmon’s attention that people might prefer to visit and eat while background music plays instead of having live entertainment throughout. However, there will probably be a final special number put together by some of the PACE rep’s since this year’s final number was so well received. Decorating – Donanna has the decorations from the party stored in her office at this time. It was suggested that maybe they could be stored in the TLC cabinets due to the convenient location and capacity. Contests – Dawn reported on the contests and how well they were received. This was a lot of work for one individual to keep track of the entries & votes, so it was suggested that more people step-up and lend a hand next year. Tamara did not like drawing the door prizes in between numbers so we will look at doing some modifications in this area next year. It was also suggested that if an individual wins their department basket they should be given the option of a different basket since their name was drawn.

Building Happenings: HSHS – Hannah Clark. The HSHS is getting ready for in-service trainings and for the spring semester to start. Idaho Star – Maria Ortega. STAR courses will be open for registration Feb. 4th (for class dates March & April). They have started announcing their new three course offerings via social media, newsletter, and webpage. Despite the snow, they are already getting inquires about them. For those unfamiliar with the courses, they now offer an Introduction to Riding, a Braking Skills Practice, and a Cornering Skills Practice. That makes a total of 8 different courses they offer for 2013. We have a new staff member: Kris Turner, Office Specialist B, whom started working full time January 7. Shields – Connie Lancaster. It is very quiet in the Shields. There is nothing new to report for building happenings since no one is back yet from the holiday break. Library – Ansina Durham. The library is gearing up for spring semester. Lucy Fait is retiring from the library at the beginning of February. Interviews to find her replacement took place yesterday. Fine Arts – Tamara Harmon. The building has been awash with people for two conferences this week. The RAT Players play, One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest, opens tonight. Don’t forget PACE people can get tickets at $7.00 each but MUST CONTACT Tamara today. The Arts on Tour next featured performance is Matt Anderson on January 24, 2013. Matt is a blues-rock guitarist and vocalist. Tickets can be purchased from Camille Barigar or online at http://tickets.csi.edu CSI Employees get discounted tickets. Office on Aging – Kelle Johnson. There is a new volunteer coordinator in the Burley office. In honor of veterans and military families the OOA is participating in “Operation Honor Cards”. They dedicate volunteer service hours in honor of the military community. Please contact Kelle if you are interested in pledging your time. CSI/Office on Aging Goal is 60,000 hours. Herrett Center - Sara Ngakoutou. The Herrett Center will be participating in Cabin Fever Days this coming Saturday. Stephen K. Shaw is the guest speaker for the January Herrett Forum. He will be presenting on U.S. Senator Frank Church. Regularly scheduled planetarium shows, telescope viewing, and Mingle in the Jungle will continue throughout the month. Ben Browne is currently featured in the Jean B. King Gallery of Art. The Herrett Center is offering a new membership program. Membership information can be viewed online at www.herrett.csi.edu . Taylor - Donanna McKinstry. Many of the Taylor employees have been battling illness. Human Resource has eight employees partaking in new employee orientation. They are in the process of finding replacements for Carolyn Matsuoka’s and Janet Jensen’s positions since they are retiring from the college. The grant workers are engaged in trying to locate new funding opportunities for the college. Evergreen – Dawn Wendland. The Evergreen is quiet right now with the exception of Hazmat removing chemicals from the chemistry lab. Unfortunately, they have also been dealing with a frost heave at the front of the building again this year even though the area was redone this last summer. They are losing the ISU outreach office which is currently housed in the Evergreen to the Hepworth building where new office space is being built to house both the ISU and BSU programs. Career and Counseling Center – Merry Olson. They are preparing to host the Women in Business and the Safety Fest conferences. They are also expecting approximately 400 students for Girls in Technology and are in need of volunteers. If you are interested please contact Merry. Coming up, Merry will represent PTE in Idaho and March on the Capitol in Washington, D.C.
