Job Title: Executive Director of Giving HOPE, Inc. (“HOPE”)

Reports to: HOPE Board of Directors

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Develops, implements, and oversees all program activities pertaining to the mission of HOPE. Supervises all support staff. Responsible for processes and metrics to comply with federal, state and local regulations. Provides support to the Board, committees and volunteers; identifies and develops new sources of funding.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:  Bachelor’s Degree or 8 to 10 years relevant experience  Master’s Degree preferred  Emphasis on Social Service Administration

Special Knowledge/Skills:  Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines  Ability to analyze complex information and synthesize into readable and persuasive written material  Proficient in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks products  Ability to manage own time and HOPE resources to accomplish duties of position  Knowledge of trends, processes and ethics in grant writing for Federal, State and local applications  Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills  Ability to diffuse an emotionally charged client

Experience:  Demonstrated experience in supervising people and managing a non-profit operation  Minimum of five years of administrative/managerial experience  Experience in fundraising, marketing, communication, and/or government/ public/private grant fund management preferred  Experience working with social service assistance programs especially related to low income homeless populations

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 Directs the process for grant applications and reviews for accuracy and compliance for all guidelines.  Responsible for fund raising including researching new sources of funds and educating the community at large on how to support HOPE.  Works with the HOPE Board to develop the agency’s short- and long-term goals, strategy development, budget planning and management. This includes tracking budget projections for all HOPE revenue and providing monthly reports to the Board.  Attends various community functions and meetings as a representative of HOPE. HOPE Executive Director  Plans, directs, and supervises the preparation, production and distribution of all publications, presentations, and marketing efforts, including periodic news releases and the annual report.  Performs all responsibilities as assigned by the Board, including: all correspondence; preparing reports; disseminating minutes of each meeting; sending notices of upcoming meetings; scheduling facilities and providing arrangements for monthly Board meetings and subcommittee meetings.  Plans, assigns and oversees program staff workload, conducts performance appraisals, addresses concerns, and resolves issues.  Directs timely preparation of necessary financial statements; assists auditors in preparation of annual agency audit and other program audits.  Oversees or performs the following day-to-day duties: develops/maintains mailing lists; keeps updated files; responds to all inquiries; manages HOPE website content; creates or edits correspondence.  Serves as the official representative and spokesperson for HOPE.  Serves as ad hoc member on every board committee and directs all related programs.  Follows agency policies and procedures and any directives from funded grant sources.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Position demands occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions. Up to 25% travel including overnight stays.

APPOINTMENT:

The appointment of this position will be recommended to the Board of Directors by the Search Committee on the basis of the applicant’s training, experience, and expertise. The Board of Directors must give final approval.
