Week One How has your school year been going so far?

Week Two Poet Jack Prelutsky was born on September 8, 1940. He wrote a poem titled “I should have stayed in bed today.” This poem is about a child who is having a day when everything goes wrong. Tell about a day when nothing seemed to go right. Did anything make you feel better that day?

Week Three The famous chocolate maker, Milton Hershey, was born on September 13, 1857. Describe what makes a great candy bar.

Week Four It is almost October! What about the fall are you most excited about? The cooler weather, Halloween, a week off of school, etc.? Explain your answer. OCTOBER Week One October is the tenth month. Write about ten nice things you've done this year.

DECEMBER Week One Pretend you gave your friend a pair of mittens filled with goodies. What kinds of surprises would your friend find in the gloves?

Week Two Write about your favorite holiday traditions. What things do you do? What do you eat? Who do you celebrate it with?

JANUARY Week One You have now been in 3rd grade for about 6 months. Journal about the most interesting things you have learned this year.

Week Three April is Keep America Beautiful Month. Tell about some things you could do to keep our county looking it's best. How would these things help to make our country better?

MAY Week One An old saying goes, “April showers bring May flowers.” Is this true where you live? Describe the plant life and flowers that you see out your window in springtime. Remember to use good describing words.

Week Two A week in May is dedicated to astronomy. If you could journey to outer space, whom would you bring with you? What would you see? How did you get there? Tell me about your experiences in outer space!

Week Three Pretend that you are a mouse and you want a delicious looking piece of cheese in a mousetrap. How will you get the cheese without getting caught? Tell me about the steps in your process to get the cheese.

Week Four Imagine that you are in charge of the weather. Write about how you would change it. What would you make each day like? Would they all be the same or would they be different?
