2011 Summer Course FAQ 1. What materials should be submitted for your application? ① Application form for Summer Chinese Course ② A photocopy of Passport ③ Application fee RMB¥450 2. How, Where to apply? Applicant can send his/her application materials by email, mail, online, or by hand to SIE. Study period 5 weeks: from Jul. 10 to Aug. 12, 2011, the tuition: RMB¥4700 4 weeks: from Jul. 10 to Aug. 05, 2011, the tuition: RMB¥3850 3 weeks: from Jul. 10 to Jul. 29, 2011, the tuition: RMB¥3000. Students are free to choose one of the study periods. 4. When should the application fee and the tuition be paid? How to pay for it? 1) Application fee: Within 14 days after sending the application materials, the applicant should transfer application fee to the university's bank account or come to SIE to pay. The photocopy of the transfer receipt should be sent to SIE by fax or by e-mail. RMB or USD can be accepted. The application fee will not be refundable after payment. 2) Tuition fee: The tuition should be paid by cash or credit card on registration day (Jul.10, 2011). It will not be refundable after payment. 3) Extracurricular activities fees The extracurricular activities are optional, including elective courses, HangZhou & XiTang and circus show. These fees should be paid on the registration day Jul.10, 2011). It will not be refunded after payment. 4) Accommodation fee: This fee should be paid by cash or credit card on registration day, Jul. 10, 2011). Applicant can pay the above 2) 3) 4) fees in cash or bank card. For international bank cards, only VISA and MASTER cards are accepted. The processing charge for international bank cards is 1.8% out of the total amount and it should be paid by students. 5. Does the university (SJTU) provide certificate and transcript, and transfer credits? If desired, the certificate and transcript will be provided upon the completion of summer course. The transfer of credits is at the discretion of the receiving institution. An exam will be held at the end of term. 6. When and where to register? Registration day is Jul.10. 2011 (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) Registration venue is at the Lecture Hall No.1 of Xuhui Campus. Applicant should bring the Passport and Admission Notice on the registration day. 7. Is it possible for students to move into dormitories earlier or leave dormitories later than the schedule? How many days can it be possible? How to handle the procedure? Applicant who reserves dormitory can move into the room no more than 2 days ahead of the schedule or leave the room no more than 2 days later than the schedule. Please mark the period of reserved dormitory on the application form. To check-in, please go to the reception desk of the No. 9 Dormitory Building. 8. What should I do if I want to live off-campus? If applicants live off campus, please register with a nearby police station within 24 hours after arrival at

Page 1 of 2 Shanghai. Otherwise, you will be fined by police. 9. Are the Teenagers between the ages of 15 and 17 years eligible for the study? Yes. They are. But they should submit a Parental authorization Letter from their guardian and they should live under their guardians’ supervision. They cannot apply for the university accommodation. 10. How to apply for the internet access in the dorm? Every room is equipped for Internet Access, and applicant can consult the reception of the No. 9 Dormitory Building for the procedure. 11. In terms of Insurance Applicant should buy travel insurance and the insurance purchase should cover the summer term. If applicant didn’t buy any insurance in the home country, please buy a “Personal Accident Insurance” on the registration day at SJTU. Please read the details in Appendix (1) “Personal Accident Insurance” 12. What are the traffic routes from Pudong Airport to Xuhui Campus? Please read the details in Appendix (2) “Transportation”.
