A RESOLUTION Posthumously Honoring James Gregory Horn of Dry Fork, Kentucky

A RESOLUTION posthumously honoring James Gregory Horn of Dry Fork, Kentucky. We silently pause to pay homage to our native son James Gregory Horn, who was taken too soon from his family and friends at the young age of thirty-seven. WHEREAS, James Gregory Horn was the son of U.G. and Betty Horn, brother of David Horn, and nephew of Bessie Cassady; and WHEREAS, James Gregory Horn was the beloved husband of Valerie Ison Horn and the devoted father of Callie Jane Horn and James Grant Lee Horn; and WHEREAS, James Gregory Horn worked for many years as a miner with the South East Coal Company; and WHEREAS, James Gregory Horn's proudest professional accomplishment came in 1990 when he helped the United Mine Workers reestablish representation at the South East Coal Company in a landslide election of 540 to 149; and WHEREAS, because of his immeasurable efforts on behalf of his fellow co- workers, James Gregory Horn was elected to be the first financial secretary for Local Union 3007; and WHEREAS, James Gregory Horn left the mining field to join his family's consulting engineering business, Horn and Associates; and WHEREAS, on November 3, 1997, while working with his father and a close friend, James Gregory Horn was killed in a tragic accident conducting core drilling for soil samples as part of the reconstruction of United States Route 119 in Pike County near the community of Sidney; and WHEREAS, James Gregory Horn's brief life served as a shining example to all persons fortunate enough to meet him and work with him; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The members of the House of Representatives, both individually and collectively, do hereby proclaim James Gregory Horn to have been an outstanding Kentuckian and exemplary representative of the Commonwealth. Section 2. The Clerk of the House is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Horn family in care of David Horn, Horn and Associates, Inc., 4215 Bybee Road, Winchester, Kentucky 40391.
