Welcome to Kindergarten s2

Welcome To Kindergarten

I would like to welcome you and your child to my kinder class. I am very excited to be working with you and your child this year. Please remember that I am here to answer any of your questions or concerns. We would like to ask for your support and cooperation during the school year with your child’s work and discipline. Please remember that Kindergarten is no longer all about playtime, your child will be learning the necessary skills to be successful throughout their academic career. This includes reading, writing, addition, and subtraction by the end of the school year. The following are the schedule, supply list, rules, and general information to have a successful school year.

Schedule The tardy bell rings at 7:45. Breakfast in the classroom will be optional beginning in three weeks, start time- 7:30 end time- 7:45. After 7:45 breakfast will no longer be served. Please make sure your child is on time.

Students will be released at 2:30 Please make sure you are on time to pick your child up in the designated area or they will be sent to the office, where you will need to pick them up.

Illnesses If you know your child is sick (vomiting, fever, cough, diarrhea, or a contagious illness) PLEASE DO NOT SEND THEM TO SCHOOL; even if he/she does not want to miss school. If he/she gets sick during the day, I will send them to the nurse and she will advise you to pick up your child. Absences and Tardies Every time your child misses school, please send a note justifying the absence. Please include the full name of the student, the dates of absences, and the reason. If you have a doctor’s note, please send that one. You only have two days after the absence to send in a note or it will be considered unexcused. We will not accept prescriptions as a justifiable note. Please check in at the front office if you are going to pick your child up before 2:30. If the school nurse sends your child home before 10:00, it will be considered an absence.

Who will pick up your child? Please let me know as soon as possible who will be picking your child up from school (you, a family member, the YMCA, or a daycare). Please let me know if there will be any changes, if not I will be obligated to follow our arrangements from the beginning of the year.

Lunch Time One of our goals every year is to teach our students how to be more independent and responsible. Parents are not allowed to come eat lunch with their child; They will adjust on their own. Our lunch time is at 10:30 am, and the first few days of school the teachers will eat with their class to get them into the routine.

Snack Each teacher will distribute a snack calendar in which student will be scheduled to bring a nutritious snack for the whole class. Please make note of when your child will be responsible to bring in snack Conferences There will be two parent/teacher conferences held during the year; one at the beginning of the year and one in the middle of the year, however, if you wish to speak with me, my conference time is 8:00-8:40 every day. Please advise me when you would like to come in.

Drop off/ pick up and parking FIRST AND SECOND DAY ONLY: Please walk your child to their classroom. Every other day, please do not walk them to the classroom. They must be on time and in line before the bell rings.

At the end of the day (2:30p.m.) you can pick your child up on the right side of the building. For the safety of the students, please wait for your child outside of the doors and let us know when you have picked them up. Mrs. Ritchey’s and Mrs. Hoover’s class will be released at the door closest to the front of the school. Miss Carreon/Mrs. Abu-Issa’s, Ms. Varela’s classes will be released at the second door. Always remember to use the crosswalks and listen to the cross guards to set an example for the students. Please pull your car over to the side of the student drop off, DO NOT STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. If you park in the parking lot please get down to pick up your child.
