JOB DESCRIPTION GRANT WRITER

I N T R O D U C T I O N

The purpose of this job description is to report the functions, requirements, working conditions, and office responsibilities of the Grant Writer. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Resource and Development

E S S E N T I A L F U N C T I O N S

The primary functions of the Grant Writer is to write, submit, and manage grant proposals, and provide writing support for foundation and corporate grant requests and acknowledgement of donor gifts. The essential functions are, but not limited to:  Actively seeks funding opportunities through grant applications.Responsible for Rreviewings grant applications, grant opportunities, seekings funding, and developings new proposals  Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources  Form and lead a grant committee to ensure efficient oversight and proper grant management  Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for grants  Works with finance and operations teams to gather information necessary to report to corporate/foundation funders on current grant programs  Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors  Provide stewardship to current donors to provide regular written updates (newsletters, etc.) to corporate and foundation donors  Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting  Track statistics relevant to grant development and provide department with written materials necessary to enhance donor stewardship efforts  Recognize contributions with acknowledgement letters and special recognition events  Ensure a productive working environment by providing staff support to Club management on grant recording and tracking  Maintain contact with community and corporate leaders, schools, parents, and local residents to seek financial support and provide information regarding Club activities and needs  Engage in appropriate communication to ensure grants are managed timely, properly, and effectively  Promote and participate in open and effective communication and support with the team  Attend and prepare for all required meeting such as staff meetings, in-service meetings, monitoring meetings, and required staff training  Maintain the highest level of customer service, confidentiality, and program standards at all times

 Support other projects as needed  Completes any additional assignments as requested by the management staff  Represent Club at various committee meetings, assist in mailings, write follow up letters, and enter data regarding Club donors

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience is preferred. Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience writing. Grant experience, as well as experience in a Boys and Girls Club or similar non-profit organization with an emphasis on fundraising, marketing, management, budgeting, and community and public relations perferred.

TRAVEL

Some travel may be required for training and/or other business purposes.
