Hi Everyone! The 2014 Rodeo Season is over and the 2014 Finals Rodeo is just around the corner - October 16 th – 19 th , in the Claresholm AgriPlex in Claresholm, AB.

This newsletter contains important information regarding the Finals so please take the time to read all the pages.

TO QUALIFY for the FINALS you must be in the top 10 in your event and have competed in that event at 5 CSPRA Rodeos in Canada as a CSPRA member. If someone in the top 10 does not enter the Finals, the next person in the standings becomes eligible until all 10 positions are filled. Team Ropers & Ribbon Ropers - Top 10 Headers/Ropers and Top 10 Heelers/Runners are eligible. If someone in the top 10 does not enter the Finals, the next person in line becomes eligible. Your partner must come from the top 10.

There will be a NEW format with slack and performances - please see below

ENTRY FEES for the FINALS are $200.00 per person per event. There will be an Office Charge of $20.00 per contestant. All contestants will be given wristbands for gate admission.

Championship Points are awarded to 4th place in each Go Round & Average in each event (40-30-20-10). There must be a minimum of 2 (two) contestants competing in an event in order for points to count for hi-point.

The contestant with the most points after the 4th Go-Round is completed will be declared the 2014 Champion. All ties will be broken by a “ride off” or “rope off”. Stock used for tie breakers will be determined at the start of the Finals. Average points are calculated on total time or score after 4 go rounds. The Average will be paid out this year.

ENTRIES are Monday September 22nd & 23rd, 2014 from 9:00 AM till 4:00 PM- Alberta Time Thru Central Office at 403.875.3242.

Please keep working at selling your Raffle Tickets Pam Havens is looking after them this year, ALL RAFFLE TICKET MUST BE MAILED TO THE OFFICE BEFORE THE FINALS TO AVOID FINES $25 FINES WILL BE ISSUED FOR ALL RAFFLE TICKETS NOT RETURNED – YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY FINES BEFORE COMPETING!

3 of 7 2014 Schedule of Finals Events Thurs. Oct. 16 Slack 10:00 a.m. Performance #1 6:00 PM. Cowboy Social & Calcutta in concession area of arena immediately after rodeo.

Fri. Oct. 17 Slack 10:00 a.m Annual General Meeting 1:00 pm Rotunda at Agriplex Performance #2 6:00 PM Cowboy Social immediately following the rodeo in the Rotunda.

Sat. Oct. 18 Slack 10:00 a.m. Performance #3 5:00 PM Presentation of Season Leader Awards & Supper, High Point Saddle, Patti McPeak Memorial, Cowboy of the Year, etc. Silent Auction immediately following rodeo in the CLARESHOLM COMMUNITY HALL (7:30/8:00 p.m.). Full supper $22.00/person, under 10 Free. Includes dance following. *** Order supper tickets when you enter for the rodeo on the 22nd for catering purposes.

Sun. Oct. 19 Sponsor/Contestant Pancake Breakfast-9:00 AM Cowboy Church Service 10:00 AM Performance #4 12:00 noon - The winner of each event must be ready to accept championship.

All members are encouraged to bring items for SILENT AUCTION. Carol Crawford will be collecting items.

2014 Finals Ground Rules 1. There must be a minimum of 2 (two) contestants competing in an event in order for points to count for hi-point.

2. There will be a 30 second time limit in all timed events. The 30 seconds starts when the barrier breaks and ends when the flagman drops his flag. Anything over 30 seconds, NOT counting penalties, will be considered a NO TIME.

3. Steer wrestlers will have 30 seconds to have their hands on the steer.

4. Average money to be paid this year. Points awarded 40-30-20-10, the same as a go round. Average will be calculated on accumulated times or scores over the 4 go rounds, NOT on go round points.

5. NO SECOND LOOPS –Team Roping, Calf Roping, Ribbon Roping, Mens & Ladies Breakaway

4 of 7 6. NO SECOND JUMPS – Steer Wrestling

7. Barrel Racers are allowed to circle in the alley but must break the plain of the arena with a forward motion.

8. In TEAMED EVENTS if a partner is injured, an age appropriate replacement may be picked from FINALS contestant

-Replacement must pay his portion of fees

-Replacement is not eligible for Championship -If replacement is found, CSPRA will reimburse injured contestant for rounds in which he/she did not compete -Remaining partner may still compete for average and Championship 9. Event directors are in charge of their events and all inquiries are to be directed to them.

10. Back numbers are to be worn throughout Performances and Slacks.

11. Judges decisions are FINAL.

12. Inhumane treatment of cattle or horses could result in fine or disqualification.

13. All Season Leaders and Runners-Up must be in Cowboy attire to accept their awards.

14. All Champions are required to be ready for presentation of championship when the event has been determined by office

15.All FEES MUST BE PAID BEFORE YOU CAN COMPETE IN YOUR EVENT!

16. Once Finals start, there will be NO refunds regardless of reasons, 0NLY exception is Rule 8.

17. Saturday, Sundays’s go-round and average cheques will be sent in mail.

18. It will be the responsibility of the timed event contestant to find a “pusher “for your animal. The gateman WILL NOT!

19. Be ready to compete when it is your turn.

Overnight Parking/Stalls A weekend rate of $65.00/stall-Wednesday to Sunday night. People who leave Monday morning will not be charged for an extra night. There are NO trailer ties

5 of 7 or self-penning allowed. Stall prices include the use of bulk shavings. Horses cannot be left in pens around arena at any time!

There are plug-ins for your trailers, you must book a plug-in and stall at the time of your entry. It will added to your fees. The Fee is $10.00 a night

ATTENTION: Season Leaders These awards will be presented Saturday at Community Center after Saturday’s performance during the Awards Supper & Dance. ALL SEASON LEADERS must be present to accept or you will not receive your award. When your name is called you will accept your award and then go to a designated spot for a group picture. As there are many Awards to be presented, we will have to keep everything moving.

There is a Thank-you card in the pocket of the Jacket and one in the Watch Box. Please fill out and send to your donors! Please show respect for all of the Sponsors.

HOST HOTEL MOTEL 6 is our Host Hotel for the Finals. Call 1.403.625.4646 There is a continental Breakfast served, High-speed internet is accessible. Please identify yourself as a CSPRA member.
