Vice President Kelsey Wallace  Met with Michael Cherry, finalized leadership development sessions for next BOG  Talked about setting up ethics board

Executive Secretary Katie Cartwright  Started one-on-ones with community secretaries  Working on Alumni Tailgate and getting invitation out  Get your programs to Katie if you want them included in the Homecoming Calendar by 10/26  Meeting last night about trip to Canada. May be contacting governors and executive board to tour their rooms while those students are touring some of the residence halls.  Also, the first weekend in November is when the students from Canada will be here. It would be great if there was a community program of some sort going on that weekend!

Executive Treasurer Eleisheia Sawyer  Started one-on-ones  Flyer from the global health people. Our logo is on there!

Hinton James Ajene Robinson-Burris  Retreat this past weekend. Planned out all semesters events and budgeted everything.  Meetings changed to Wednesday at 10pm  Debate viewing  Sunday is first diversity dinner/meet and greet with government. Second Sunday every month  Haunted HoJoween October 28th,

Manning West Alexander Walkowski  RA/cogo meet and greet  Meet and treat with residents tomorrow  Sunday collaboration with RAs to do hall decorating contest. Providing decorations. The best hall gets a banner  Reserved space for Manning block party. Meeting with production services tomorrow.  Manning Block party is now November 9th.

OCUQ Michael Thornburg  Retreat this past weekend.  Meet and greet tomorrow 6-8.  Contacting one act and working on setting up a blood drive

Parker Graham Martin  Met with Michael Cherry last week.  First meeting this past Thursday  7-10 meet and greet tomorrow. 1 hour in each lobby.  RA/cogo meet and greet next Monday  Halloween is the same time as Kenan’s Ram Village Shaneequa Shryier  Meeting last night presentations from One Act and Green Games  Meet and greet tomorrow 10-12 in Taylor Lobby  Meeting tomorrow about breast cancer benefit with Sweet Frog

Grant Requests Program: Domestic Violence Prevention Walk Interest Meeting Goal: raise awareness about domestic violence Expected Attendance: 120 Expected Cost: $500 Amount Requesting from RHA: $200  Presentation o October is domestic violence awareness month. Hope to reach more students on campus. Raise about $4000/year. Projected 70 participants. Need help with advertising and t-shirts. $300 from GAA. Delta research will be sponsoring as well. About $400. $30 from RV community government. o Want to purchas 100 t-shirts. o October 28th, 2-3 hours long o Walk includes facts and monologues along the walk. End in the Stone Center for a performance or a speech on how it involves the community. o Sign ups live tomorrow.  Questions o Lower Quad: domestic violence includes what? . Geared towards women. Mainly from female perspective, but also a small amount of male. o Cobb: t-shirt cost . About $6. Decided to make more o Manning West: is the total cost including the extra shirts? . No. o Ali: clarification, differences in the sheet passed out. Is the money for the interest meeting or the event materials? . Money is for the event. . Money from GAA will go strictly towards food. o NRHH: drinks, approach CDS! Are you posted on the relationship violence website? Post ad during Courage project! . No, but getting info from Andrea. o Granville: shirt design. Have you shopped around? . Not since they have a smaller order. But not that they are getting more shirts, they are looking around.  Discussion o Ram Village: POI didn’t give them money, but said they would help pub it! o Carmichael: motion to fund for $200, second by Manning East. . New Business a. CHISEL-Abe Sterling a. Campus Health in students and everyday life b. Educate students on ways to live healthier life. c. Realize it’s hard to come up with educational events. Here to fix that! d. 5 presentations for residents. Send time and date to them and they ‘ll present to you! i. Perfectionism and stress! Help them become less stressed ii. Relationships: dynamics of these in college. Is your relationship healthy? 1. Talks about what happens in your brain when you’re in love iii. Meditation and stress: effects of meditation and how it helps with stress. 15 minutes of meditation after iv. Intuitive eating: eating to live instead of living to eat. How to manage hunger! v. Exercise and the effects on body: how to become a healthier students! vi. At the end of each will talk about different services provided by campus health. 10 free (per year!) sessions to every Carolina student. vii. Prefer that you as the government provide snacks (tea, etc) viii. Partner with RAs. ix. Need cogo to pub these events so that residents come to the event! x. Contact CHISEL at least two weeks in advance so they have plenty of time to prepare! xi. There’s room for growth! Would love to give the students the opportunity to sign up in the organization. xii. Contact Info: [email protected] (He’s the president!) b. Tar Heel Bikes – Danny Allen and Brennan Bouma a. 30 bikes between Hinton James, Ehringhaus, and Craige b. Check out through enhancements c. “Honor System” for damages d. Maintenanct and repairs by the ReCYCLEry i. NPO in Chapel Hill, teaching people how to fix up bikes. ii. 20 repair calls so far. iii. Safety checks twice a month iv. Only two repairs that seemed to be misuse or vandalism 1. Recommended to CDs that students be charged for these damages v. For every two bikes we bought, donations to another program! e. They’re housed on the Carolina blue racks by these residence halls! f. It’s a daily rental (must be checked in/out during the community office hours) g. Student value i. Convenience and mobility ii. Community iii. Sustainability iv. Education v. Advocacy vi. Communication and coordination h. How you can get involved? i. Tell your communities! Tell your friends! ii. Coordinate with RAs and CDs. You could have an event around this! iii. Build the Tar Heel Bikes community iv. Like them of FB@ v. If interested contact Danny ([email protected]) or Heather! i. Two year pilot program phase. If it’s successful, hopefully the next step would be to expand to every community on campus. That process would need to start next year because of planning. Expanding this program means big things not only for our campus, but also our partners at the ReCYCLEry. j. Don’t currently provide helmets for this program. Liability is involved with this process. The waiver recommends the wearing helmets! They are promoting helmet use. Also can’t do it because of public health! Basically sharing a hat… k. How much would it cost to do the check in digitally? i. This will be changed over when we get the new enhancements system! l. Governors think that bikes would be used at every residence hall c. Gender non-specific housing – Kevin Claybren a. Housing option for any gender expression to have housing opportunities. b. 32 public and 66 private that offer this in the nation. c. Has been pushed for 6 years, last year over 2000 students showed interested d. 53 organizational support, including RHA. e. 10 week postcard campaign. Going to board of trustees telling why it’s important to students on campus f. Video campaign to show at board of trustees meeting. Hoping to set up a time to go speak with board of trustees. g. He would like to set up meetings in your communities to do a presentation for you to engage students who may not know what’s going on and answer any questions. h. Change.org petition online i. Creative Wednesdays for postcards in the pit j. Heather will send out his contact info. k. Starting small, where there’s a suite that’s dedicated to non-specific. Want it integrated into all the dorms so it isn’t segregated off. l. Other schools look up to us first! We set the examples for the other schools! m. We don’t want the idea that targeted bullying in the area to stop us from doing this. n. There are support groups and resources now that would also be available when this program would start. We want to avoid the harassment and provide a safe place for ALL students. o. This is for any student. It will fit the needs for many students on the campus. Provides a safe atmosphere for anyone who chooses to participate. p. This would count as a diversity program! d. CUAB – Shirley Liu a. Union 3109 b. External affairs reaches out to the organizations on campus. c. Two week turnover, you purpose the program, they ask questions and make adjustments. Meet weekly. When finalized, they tell you what role CUAB will play. $10-12 per student. d. Focus group Thursday. If you are interested in going, RSVP to her (contact info on the sheet you gave) e. Purpose program at least 8 weeks in advance. f. Focus on groups who really need their help! g. Committees within CUAB i. Seen on the back of your info sheet. ii. If you are interested in a committee, you are welcome to join! e. Dance Marathon Penny Wars – Landon Sherwood a. See your handout for the Official Policy for Charitable Fundraisers i. Can’t charge residents to participate in your event, or charge to get a giveaway ticket ii. You can collaborate with other organizations, but you can’t just pay for something they do. They need to come to BOG with a grant request. You need a representative from your planning committee at all of their meetings b. Penny Wars – Dance Marathon i. October 22-31 ii. Would love for everyone to participate. It would be awesome if your community pubs it iii. Residents put pennys in jars in offices. Points for pennys, lose points for anything silver. iv. Winning community will get Panera bagels for entire community. v. Tell your residents, RAs, post flyers, etc! Flyers will come to your email soon. vi. Make a team for dance marathon! Dancer recruitment next week vii. Collections jars will most likely be provided. viii. Will be kept in community office. And yes, Governor, treasurere, and one other exec board member will have to add up the money EVERY day! ix. If you have an event, you can move the can to the event. Make sure it is visible.
