1. Biography: Sabine Lange Toxicology Division Texas Commission on Environmental Quality

Current Position Sabine is a toxicologist and assesses health effects data of environmental toxicants to determine safe levels of these chemicals.

Prior Experience and Education Sabine received a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Western Ontario in Canada in 2003. She majored in Biochemistry and completed a thesis project involving epigenetic modifications of human DNA. She joined the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Texas at Houston and MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2003 and began her graduate work with Dr. Karen Vasquez. Her work with Dr. Vasquez involved the understanding of repair and mutagenesis following damage by environmental agents such as ultraviolet radiation and psoralens. Sabine earned her Ph.D. in 2008 and transitioned to a post-doctoral lab at the same institution with Dr. Richard Wood, also studying DNA damage and mutagenesis, using biochemical, cell culture, and animal models. In mid-2014, she joined the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality as a Toxicologist specializing in air pollutants.
