The Human Condition

God created out of nothing and made everything ‘good’. The human condition was a positive and seemingly perfect one; humans had freewill and a loving relationship with God.

Then, ‘the FALL’ happened.

The Fall  Refers to Adam and Eve’s ‘fall from grace’ in Genesis 3.  Story of Adam and Eve.  Placed in the Garden of Eden and told not to eat from tree of knowledge.  Disobeyed God – Eve tempted by serpent.  Adam ate the apple too.  God expelled them from the Garden of Eden.  Sin entered the world and humanity inherited the sin of Adam and Eve after the Fall – Original Sin.

Consequences of sin leading to the human condition

 Alienation from God.  Alienation from each other.  Death.  Evil and suffering.  Guilt and betrayal.  Remorse, embarrassment and a sense of being lost.  The need for salvation and atonement.
