Role Purpose

Responsible for the implementation and execution of all corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance in all areas of the process. Direct liaison with the Shift maintenance team leader and Mechanical/Electrical team leaders to ensure that the maintenance department delivers a safe, effective and efficient service to the Production department

Page: 1 of 4 Implementation and development of the site CMMS to involve direct liaison with the Engineering Manager, Maintenance Development Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, DCS/Controls Engineer, Electrical/Mechanical team leaders and the shift Maintenance team leaders.

To assist in the strategic development of the maintenance philosophy at Allington by implementing new maintenance techniques and procedures directed at increasing the overall plant availability in line with budget expectations.

To be directly involved in the planning stages of all planned outages to ensure outage time schedules and specific maintenance programmes are completed on time and within budget. Direct supervision/liaison with sub contractors either as a general additional maintenance resource or through specific maintenance contracts

To deputise for the Shift maintenance team leader when required.

Key Responsibilities

1. Health & Safety

 Ensure that all activities within the Allington site are carried out in a safe manner in line with WRG safety policy and all Health & Safety statutory requirements.  Carry out risk assessments to ensure activities are completed in a safe manner at all times.  Working as part of a team striving for continual improvement in minimising Health & Safety risk at the Allington EFW plant.  Ensure visitors/subcontractors attending the site are inducted in the site safety and emergency procedures.  Ensure that the sites housekeeping standards are achieved and developed  To ensure that the implementation and use of specific tool box talks are carried out consistently and documented accordingly  Will act as the Authorised / Nominated Person within the limits of their competence when required to carry out work safely.  To strive to introduce best practice and “right first time philosophy” within the maintenance department

2. Plant development

 To assist in the implementation of equipment upgrades and replacement in line with the agreed process priorities  To be a key member in the planning, execution and completion of the annual planned outages on each of the 3 lines  To be actively involved in all statutory inspections of the plant and equipment on an annual basis

Page: 2 of 4  To be actively involved in the day to day use of, implementation and the development of the company CMMS. This to involve the raising of purchase requisitions using the company cost code structure.

3. Team working

 Manage and contribute towards the team effort, encouraging team spirit and provide assistance to others.  Encourage employee involvement in the decision making processes.  Maintain and develop industrial relations through effective communications.

Qualifications and Experience

 City & Guilds/ONC qualified (ideally in Mechanical/Electrical /Instrumentation & Control )  Having completed a recognised apprenticeship from within a comparable industry  Ideally 5 to 10 previous years experience from within the Power, Paper, Cement or Energy from Waste industries.  Good communication skills at all levels both verbally and written.  Ability to demonstrate excellent organisational skills.  Have a willingness and ability to operate flexibly over a wide range of work areas.  Previous CMMS experience  Ideally holding an IOSH safety accreditation  Experience with preventative/predictive maintenance techniques (vibration analysis, laser alignment, thermography, oil analysis)  The ability to be able to manage numerous sub contractors in a planned outage environment  Electrically, Instrumentation/Control the ideal candidate will have experience with instrumentation and control systems to include Siemens PLC’s, DCS and all forms of level, temperature, pressure and flow control.  Mechanically the ideal candidate will have specific manual handling and lifting technique experience and an understanding of LOLER  Mechanically the ideal candidate will have previous experience of statutory inspections of steam pressure systems and associated equipment  Previous hydraulics experience would be a distinct advantage  Crane maintenance (Demag) experience would be ideal  The ability to be able to carry out basic welding repairs

Requirements

Working part of a staggered day shift pattern consisting of an early, day and late shift Weekend working required 1 week in 4 During planned outages or specific times of heavy work load within the department extended periods of additional site attendance either working 12 hour days or 12 hour nights as required is essential Will form part of an out of hours engineering response team, with a frequency no greater than 1 week in 4

Break times

Lunch break is 30 minutes (unpaid, unless worked through and agreed by the Day Team Leaders or the Engineering Manager)

Tea breaks are at the discretion of the company. These should consist of no more than 15 minutes (including washing up time). Depending upon work load a tea break in the first half of the shift may be taken and also one in the second half of the shift. If these break times are abused then this privilege may be reduced in duration or removed.

Shift start/finish

All personnel should be changed and ready to commence work at the very start of the rostered shift. Washing up times at the end of the rostered shift (work load permitting) should be no longer than 15 minutes. If these times are abused then this privilege may be reduced in duration or removed. The shift log should be fully completed and any specific/relevant information passed on accordingly to the next shift and/or Engineer before leaving site.
