GULF HOTELS GROUP ANNOUNCES MR. GARFIELD JONES AS DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Gulf Hotels Group (GHG) has announced the promotion of Garfield Jones to the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer. BHC owns and operates the Gulf Hotel, Gulf Executive Residence and Gulf Brands International in Bahrain and operates the Ocean Paradise Resort in Zanzibar on behalf of Bahrain based Paradise Realty Holding Company. Jones joined GHG in 1995 as Food & Beverage Manager at the Gulf Hotel and held the positions of Director of F&B and Executive Assistant Manager at the Hotel, before transferring to GHG as Director of Operations when the company restructured in 2002. GHG Chief Executive Officer, Aqeel Raees said “Garfield has played an instrumental part in the development of the Company having managed the construction and opening of the Gulf Hotel’s China Garden, Fusions, Royal Thai and Takht Jamsheed Restaurants, as well as the 2,200 seat Gulf International Convention Centre, the re-landscaped poolside and most recently, the 97 luxury apartment Gulf Executive Residence”. He continued “In 2000, he played a major role when GHG assumed the operation of the catering facilities at Riffa Golf Club on behalf of PGA Golf Management, a contract which is still in existence today and in 2004, he spent a considerable period in Zanzibar, overseeing the construction and finalizing the opening arrangements for the Ocean Paradise Resort. “ With Mr Jones’ help and support, GHG has, for the past few years, experienced substantial growth in all divisions”.

Jones said “Since 1995, every year has brought new challenges and the next few years will be no exception. GHG will undertake a complete renovation of the Gulf Hotel’s Tower Block in 2007 as well as adding a 600 bay multi-story car park and 6,600m² of office space adjacent to the Hotel. The Company has also signed an agreement with Mokan WLL to develop and operate an 80 unit luxury apartment facility in Juffair and has commenced work with Paradise Realty Holding Company, owners of the Ocean Paradise Resort, to develop a second resort in Zanzibar.”
