Excel: Save your new default template as book.xlt in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\SPM\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

PowerPoint: Save your new default template as blank.pot in the folder: C:\Documents and Settings\SPM\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

Note: Unlike the other programs where the template can just be placed in the correct folder, the important thing with PowerPoint is to actually save the file as blank.pot inside the PowerPoint program.
