Employment Experience
Talisman Bistro and Grill - Waitress (P/T) 2005 - Present I have been employed at this busy restaurant on Friday and Saturday evenings for the past 18 months, serving food, cleaning and setting tables, and assisting with food preparation. In this post I have gained the Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate. I enjoy interacting with customers and have gained confidence and further developed my communication skills.
Spar Minimarket - Sales Assistant (Saturdays) 2005 This was my first employment once I had reached the age of 16. I was responsible for stocking shelves; stock room work; operating the till, cash handling and reconciling the till at the end of the day; and assisting customers. I was sorry to leave this employment when the opportunity arose to work at Talisman, and still work here on occasion when the manager is short staffed. Annabelle Townshend
Activities and Interests
I have been a member of the Girl Guide movement since first joining as a Rainbow in 1993, and have recently achieved the award of Queen’s Guide. I am now trained as a Young Leader and assist with the Brownie Pack. I have attended many camps, including an International Jamboree in Vancouver in 2004 which gave me a wonderful opportunity to meet Guides from all over the world and discover common interests as well as cultural differences.
At school I have enjoyed debating and this has helped me to develop confidence in public speaking as well as increasing my awareness of topical issues. I was very proud to lead the school debating society to first place in the 2006 Rotary inter-school debating competition.
I enjoy all team sports, especially hockey which I play both at school and for my local club, Mickleover Ladies. This has given me a sense of the importance of team work, and being appointed Vice Captain of the school 1st XI has given me confidence in organising fixtures and helping to lead the team.
In my leisure time I play the flute, and have played in the school orchestra for the past 3 years. Music is a great source of relaxation and helps me to unwind after a stressful day at school. I also play regularly with my church Praise Band on Sunday mornings.
