The Illinois State University Environmental Stewardship Award

This award application is open to any Illinois State University student, faculty, staff, department, or registered student organization (RSO). Acceptable applicants must show exemplary skills and efforts in the area of environmental stewardship as it relates to the Illinois State University campus and surrounding communities. Research projects, ongoing environmental education programs, individual efforts, and innovative program implementation are just a few of the efforts that are acceptable for recognition. Projects applying must support and be related to the mission of Educating Illinois, and will be evaluated based on the following criteria: importance and stability of project, feasibility, environmental impact on the University Community, creativity, and the organization and cohesiveness of the project.

Award recipient(s) will receive a certificate of recognition and a $500 award used toward further advancement of current environmental efforts at Illinois State University. While not all applicants will be publicly recognized, the University appreciates all applications as they apprise us of the wide array of efforts occurring campus-wide. Thank you for your interest in the Environmental Stewardship Award. More importantly, thank you for your ongoing efforts in environmental education, sustainability, and stewardship.

The deadline for applications is November 30, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. This year applications will only be accepted via e-mail. Please email applications to all of the following: [email protected].

Please attach a 3-5 page submission explaining why the project/applicant qualifies for campus- wide recognition. Additional materials (samples of projects/papers, letters of recommendation, etc.) are encouraged but should not exceed 10 pages. If the project requires additional funding beyond the award amount of $500, please identify the project’s additional funding sources.
