Danish Army Staff COURSE DESCRIPTION Danish Military Police Centre Course Code: MP 351

NORDIC Provost Marshal Course (PMC)

Aim: The aim of the course is to impart such knowledge and attitudes to students from Nordic and other countries so that he/she is able to perform as Provost Marshal, working in a Provost Marshal staff or perform as Legal Adviser in an international operation.

Contents: The course comprises the following subjects and orientations: 1* Doctrine, SOP/SOI, MOU etc., Legal Aspects, ROE, Law of Armed Conflicts, cooperation with ICRC and other IO/NGO, Protection of civilians and Gender perspective in armed conflicts. 2* Paradoxes and dilemmas in connections with National and International regulations and caveats in connections with e.g. Road Traffic Accidents, Death and Complain of harassment. 3* Bde/BG Commanders expectations to his PM and the Military Police unit in connection with e.g. Riots, detention of locals and daily duties etc. 4* Provost Marshal in a joint 1 AUG 17 MP 351 environment 5* International Criminal Court 6* Briefings by: 7* Provost Marshal SHAPE, 8* Provost Marshal ARRC or similar, 9* Experiences from a Provost Marshal in a mission area, 10* Mentoring Local Police, 11* Other relevant subjects.

Control: There are no examinations at the end of the course, but each student will be evaluated during lectures and syndicate work, proficiency in English. The evaluation will express the opinion as ”passed” or ”not passed”.

Certificate: The Nordic Provost Marshal Course Diploma will be issued.

Duration: 5 days (38,5 hours) in addition,7 hours will be used for mandatory social events.

Participation: Category of Military Police Officers and Legal Advisers prior to personnel: serving as Provost Marshal, Legal Advisor or in a Provost Marshal staff in International operations.

Conditions for Military Police Training and service (except Legal admission: Advisors) as well as a very good knowledge of English.

Dress: Daily best uniform.

Uniform, equipment etc. Daily duty uniform. which should be brought PT-gear. by the student:

Feeding: All meals at barracks.

Accommodation: Bachelor’s quarters at barracks.

Miscellaneous: Payment for feeding, accommodation and social arrangements is in accordance with the NORDEFCO agreement € 100- pr. day

Course fee: No additional course fee is charged.

Language: The course is conducted in English. Interpreters are not available.
