Eastern Property Owners’ Association Junior Ambassador Program – Application 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 School Years

Program description: Garden City High School is partnering with the Eastern Property Owners’ Association to continue a Junior Ambassador Program. The goals of this program are to introduce students to the unique form of government that has guided Garden City since its inception 140 years ago and to promote active, civic participation in our community. The program requires a two year commitment including the participant’s junior and senior years in high school.

Qualifications You must:  be a junior who is a resident in the Eastern Section of Garden City; and  has an interest in learning about and participating in local government.

Expectations: Students who are selected as Junior Ambassadors will be expected to: 1. attend monthly EPOA meetings (typically once a month on a Tuesday evening) and EPOA special events. 2. attend an occasional Board of Trustees’ meeting and a meeting of one of the Village Commissions. 3. contribute articles to the school newspaper, the EPOA Newsletter, and other media including local newspapers and websites that describe his/her experiences as a Junior Ambassador; assist with preparing presentations and displays on the history of the East. 4. report reactions and progress to his/her respective social studies teachers. 5. sign a commitment letter for your junior and senior years
