6. Update on recommendations from Orientation Working Group thus far- a. Change program to the Friday before classes start rather than the Saturday b. One full day : First morning session-Welcome from the Dean and review of important academic policies; c. Mid-morning -students go to program area to meet with graduate program directors and fellow classmates. d. Afternoon- have reps from Financial Aid, Cashier’s Office, Registrar’s office and Academic Computing available for an hour or two in centrally located computer labs to assist students and answer questions. e. Concurrent introductory sessions run in the afternoon to supplement online modules on Preparing to Teach, Responsible Conduct of Research f. Development of Blackboard course with modules related to getting started in the fall (registration, financial aid, payment of tuition/fees, etc.), preparation for teaching, responsible conduct of research, academic integrity, GA contracts/ terms and conditions. URL /access given to all newly admitted degree seeking graduate students
