CANNED BOOK REPORT

A Bookstore in Westwood just went bankrupt. Other area bookstores are also in danger of going out of business soon. This is a nationwide problem that is caused by the free and easy access to books on the Internet. The fear is that bookstores and libraries will no longer exist. Therefore, future generations will never know of the treasures that an actual book has to offer. In order to ensure that these books will still be around for years to come, you need to create a time capsule of a book future fifth graders will enjoy. Your time capsule must be made using the following items to make sure they understand the true splendors of the book: 1.Can with a lid (coffee can, iced tea can, etc.) 2.An illustrated setting of the book pasted on the can 3.A label on the lid listing the title, author, illustrator and your name 4.Your can must contain:  A miniature book which has a summary of the book, the major characters, the problem the major character faces and its solution, a description and illustration of your favorite part of the book, your opinion of the book, and a page about the author  Puppets of the main characters, such as a sock, stick, finger, or paper bag puppet. Use your imagination!  Two objects that represent an important aspect of the story. For example, if you read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, you could make a replica of the chocolate bar with the golden ticket. Be creative!  Feel free to include anything else that is meaningful to the story.
