HEART OF KENT HOSPICE JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Flexi-Bank Hospitality food and beverage assistant (based at Heart of flavour)

Reports To: Catering & Hospitality Manager

Accountable To:

Responsible For: Setting up the hospitality room as requested. Prepare, mix and serve drinks and alcoholic beverages correctly to either customers directly or through serving staff.

Weekend and evening shifts will be required. Working on a 0 hour contract

Main Responsibilities:

1. Professional

1.1 greet customers and present beverage menus

1.2 make recommendations and answer all related inquiries

1.3 check identification of customers to verify they are of legal drinking age

1.4 take orders from serving staff or directly from customers

1.5 record drink orders

1.6 prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in accordance with standard recipes

1.7 peel, slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.

1.8 upsell drink and snack items to customers

1.9 respond promptly to requests from customers in a polite and professional fashion

1.10 attempt to limit problems related to customers' excessive drinking by following established procedures

1 1.11 process transactions using the POS system

1.12 prepare checks for customers

1.13 process customer payments

1.14 arrange glasses and bottles into attractive and functional displays

1.15 ensure clean glasses, bar equipment and working areas

1.16 comply with all health, safety and hygiene standards and policies

1.17 balance the cash register at the start and close of each shift

1.18 monitor inventory

1.19 order and restock bar inventory

2. Management

2.1 To attend meetings pertinent to organisational and professional responsibilitie

3. Communication

3.1 To promote close working relationships and good communication links with Colleagues at all levels throughout the Hospice.

3.2 To liaise with internal departments and a wide range of external organisations and individuals as appropriate.

4. Governance

4.1 To be aware of, and comply with, all Hospice and Statutory policies and procedures as appropriate.

4.2 To support the Hospice’s governance requirements.

4.3 To take personal responsibility for risk management in his/her work and undertake to review practices and learn from experience.

4.4 To participate in the development, review and audit of relevant standards and contribute to the process of continuous quality improvement throughout the Hospice.

4.5 To comply with the Hospice’s policy and procedure in handling any complaints, accidents and incidents.

2 5. Health and Safety

5.1 To take reasonable care of the health and safety of yourself and others that may be affected by what you do while at work, and to co-operate in the implementation of the Hospice’s Health and Safety Policy.

5.2 To ensure that catering health and safety risks are effectively identified, mitigated and managed.

6. General

6.1 To work as a member of the Hospice team, to foster the team’s caring mission and to have commitment to the overall purpose of the Hospice.

6.2 To participate in the production of promotional material and support fundraising/volunteer events as appropriate.

6.3 At all times to behave in a manner befitting the post and professional dignity of the Hospice and ensure that the Hospice is positively represented to the public and other stakeholders.

6.4 To maintain an appropriate standard of confidentiality. Any disclosure of confidential information (including personal information kept on computer or other media) made unlawfully outside the proper course of duty will be treated as a serious disciplinary offence.

6.5 To carry out such other duties which may reasonably be requested.
