Planning for this day is tricky. There are 10 spots in the finals. The first spots go to the winner of each classification/division. There will be ONE finalist from the 2A, 3A, 4A classes combined! We are competing in the 4A class this week. The 5A class is divided into two classes and will get two finals spots. If we do not win the combined 2A, 3A, 4A class, we must have a higher score than the remaining eleven 5A bands to make finals. We will know at 4:45pm when they announce placements. If we do not make finals, we will head home around 6:00pm. If we do, we will then plan accordingly and should arrive home around 12:45am. Please have a plan in place to communicate with your parents about what we are doing and when we will return home.

I know this could be a long day, but think about this….this has been a season of growth and change. We have charted new territory with our drill and music this season, which has created some new challenges. This is definitely the largest stadium we will play in this year. If we can give a strong and dominating performance in this venue, we will end our season is a strong fashion. Let me remind you of my expectations for your behavior throughout the day, this includes picking up trash in our area of the parking lot and keeping the buses clean. EVERYTHING you do is a reflection on the program, the school, and our community. Everyone must live by the expectations placed on us as a member of the Platte County Band….no exceptions!!!

I have reminded you of this before, but……here it is again.

Uniforms MUST fit properly. Please make sure the pants are the correct length. They should hit at the top of the shoe. This is important. The way you wear the uniform and the way you act in uniform shows your pride in yourself and your school. Again, all silver instruments must be polished and only black marching shoes and LONG BLACK SOCKS are acceptable. It is your responsibility to make sure the uniform looks good on you. Nothing bothers me more than to see students wearing the uniform wrong or acting inappropriately in uniform.

Again, the buses are our homes, so keep them clean. Do not sit on the backs of the seats, keep the bus clean and do as the driver asks. When we return home, the buses will be inspected. Any bus not clean, will be assigned bus cleaning duty on the next trip. This is something you DO NOT want to do, so clean up after yourselves. We have a TON of props and equipment this year. Please help out as much as you can. Do not sit around and expect the parents to work for you. It is YOUR show. The parents do an amazing job, but they are here to help you, not do the work for you. Additionally, when we eat, throw your trash away. We always leave our area cleaner than we find it. Even if it is not your trash, pick it up and throw it away. Again, the parents are not to pick up after you. That is your job. Do not throw water bottles or do anything I will consider immature. If you aren’t sure if I would consider it immature, it probably is!!Good Luck and Go Pirates!! Dr. Jones Dr. Bonsignore Mr. Bailey Mr. Gordon Ms. Mueller
