Professional Journal Article Review Guidelines

You will be expected to complete one professional journal article review for one of the subject areas of mathematics, science, or social studies. An article that discusses methods of teaching, assessment, educational theories, national reforms, or evaluation of pedagogy may be selected. These articles should contain some educational research or be based on educational research on various aspects as mentioned above. These reviews should be handed in to the instructor on the dates specified in the course calendar.

The review must be typed and double-spaced. Include a copy of the article with your review. If the article is long, you may include a copy of only the first page. (3 pts)

Your review should include the following: - Reference of the article (3 pts)—Use APA format (you can find the APA manual in the library reference section. It is also available online. - A paragraph summary of the article. (8 pts) - Your reaction/evaluation. You might want to include relevant responses to the following questions. a) What is the central idea of this article? (4 pts) (What are the issues being discussed) b) Do you agree with the ideas presented in the article? Why or why not? (6 pts) c) What is the significance of these ideas for you? How would you use the ideas in your classroom? (6 pts) d) Go to the Forum and post your opinion about the article you reviewed. You can use B and C from above in your posting (10).
