A modern city, administrative, commercial, intellectual and tourist center of the prefecture. Beautiful, traditional buildings adorn the port and the historical center while the pedestrian walkways and cobblestone streets lined with popular taverns and cafès remind us of the islands. IONIAN SEA / PREVEZA DEFINITELY VISIT: Castles: Agios Andreas, Agios Georgios & Pantokratoras Agios Haralambos cathedral • Museum of Natural History Museum of the Aktion Naval Battle • The hydrotherapy spa The Amvrakikos wetlands habitat IONIAN SEA LEFKAS ISLAND Lefkada or Leucas Island is surrounded by a total of 24 islets (Aristotle Onassis’ Skorpios being one of them). It connects to the opposite coast of Central Greece via a floating swing bridge. On Lefkada you will find noteworthy sights, churches and monasteries, picturesque villages, lush vegetation, idyllic coves of turquoise waters, busy and secluded beaches of stunning beauty, a significant cultural heritage and hospitable locals. IONIAN SEA / LEFKAS ISLAND DEFINITELY VISIT: The lagoon • Agia Mavra fort • Bosketo Park Kouzounteli or Kouzoumpei area • Archeological Museum International Folklore Festival IONIAN SEA SIVOTA Most of the people visiting Sivota stay only near beaches. Nevertheless, the rest of the area is also equally interesting. From the south side of the settlement starts a beautiful route which includes the abandoned Vrachona settlement and Polineri village. Because the area is full of rural roads most of the route follows them. Hikers’ effort is paid back with the beauti- ful view of Sivota islets and Corfu in the background. IONIAN SEA ATOKOS ISLAND ?????????? IONIAN SEA KASTOS ISLAND The very idea of any location remaining truly undiscovered and unspoilt in the 21st century seems unlikely, to say the least. That such a location could be a small island off south western Greece, surrounded by opal seas and boasting lush green hills, empty beaches, two quiet harbours and scarcely more than 50 perma- nent residents, would make the suggestion seem frankly far-fetched. Yet this is the reality of Kastos. IONIAN SEA ΙΤΗΑCΑ ISLAND Famous as the legendary homeplace of Ulysses, Ithaca island is a paradisial is- land for total relaxation. It has amazing lush greenery, gem villages and beach- es with blue green waters. Kioni and Vathy are the most picturesque villages, while wonderful beaches to swim are Filiatro, Sarakiniko and Agios Ioannis. IONIAN SEA / ITHACA ISLAND DEFINITELY VISIT: Archeological Museum • Maritime & Folk Art Museum Nymphs Cave or Marmarospilia • Evmaios Cave Theotokos Church • Alalkomenes • Gidaki beach IONIAN SEA KEFALONIA ISLAND Magnificent scenery, amazing beaches, a rich cultural heritage, great monuments, moun- tains, castles, distant monasteries and the cheerful, hospitable people are the assets that have turned Kefalonia Island into one of the most attractive destinations. The largest Ionian island lies in the mouth of Patraikos Gulf, between Zakynthos and Lefkada. It is endowed with an exquisite nature and diverse geological formations, countless coves, and lush vegetation. IONIAN SEA / KEFALONIA ISLAND DEFINITELY VISIT: Napier’s Garden • Drapanos stone bridge • Archeological Museum Korgialeneios Library • History & Folk Art Museum Pharaoh Hill • Katavothres • Agioi Theodoroi Lighthouse IONIAN SEA MEGANISI ISLAND Meganisi is a picturesque island of the Ionian sea, 4 nautical miles southeast of Lefkada. The tra- ditional architecture, the hospitable residents, the quite life, the magnificent sceneries, the pic- turesque bays with the fish taverns, the restaurants and entertainment shops, the splendid view, the green landscapes and the crystal waters, create an ideal place for the summer holidays.
