In addition to completing Goal I, chose one of the remaining goals below to implement the related tactics or devise tactics that align to your local council’s strategic plan or an observable need.
Goal I: Gain Executive Board support for a Diversity & Inclusion Initiative.
Tactic: Submit the Diversity Plan Template for approval and action by the local council executive board. Measurement: Approval and acceptance by Executive Board.
Goal II: Implement and maintain ongoing Diversity Awareness Training for employees, volunteers, and camp staffs.
Tactics: Identify and invite an outside diversity expert to conduct training. Using local or National Council Center for Professional Development resources, maintain Diversity Awareness Training modules (cultural, generational, gender, and religious). Implement Diversity Awareness Training for local council employees and camp staffs. Expand training to the executive board and roundtables. Measurement: Completion of diversity training with relevant constituent groups.
Goal III: Encourage council leadership to work toward achieving staff, volunteer, and member compositions that are reflective of the available youth population in the geographic area served.
Tactics: Utilizing market data, implement annual reporting from the Scout executive to the executive board on available youth populations, youth served and staff composition. Develop a program to recognize staff, volunteers, committees, etc. that achieve progress in diversity. Measurement: Monitor progress via quarterly diversity reports.
