INVITATION TO GENERAL MEETING GREENWICH SHOPPING PRECINCT UPGRADE DEVELOPMENT OPTIONS

Wednesday 20th October 8pm

Residents may recall that the August meeting of the Association took the form of a public meeting in which residents and representatives of Greenwich businesses were given the opportunity to articulate their priorities and concerns in relation to the proposed upgrade of the Greenwich Shopping Precinct. The meeting was attended by a representative of Lane Cove Council who outlined possible changes to the precinct and responded to comments made at the meeting.

As a result of input from the August meeting, Council generated two alternative plans for the precinct enhancement. Both plans involve a change in the location of the pedestrian crossing on Greenwich Road. One version of the plan has no change to car parking or café seating space adjacent to the shops, the other plan involves the loss of one parking space to create a new outdoor seating/dining space for “Hooked” customers.

Residents now have the opportunity to examine Council’s plans and to identify a preferred plan. Council staff will attend our scheduled general meeting on 20th October to explain in detail the two options and to take questions and comments from those present. Finer details of the project may also be covered such as seating styles, bollards and colour schemes. The much anticipated work can then commence!

The 20th October meeting will be the final public forum in which residents’ views and suggestions can be expressed.

You are invited to attend this important General Meeting of the Greenwich Community Association which will be held at the Greenwich Community Centre, 46 Greenwich Road on Wednesday, 20th October 2010 commencing at 8pm. The meeting will conclude at 10pm. Supper will be available during the meeting. AND NOW TO OTHER IMPORTANT MATTERS!

Coming Up at Council At a meeting on Monday 18th October Council will identify possible amendments to the Local Environmental Plan as part of a standard 12 month review process. Possible changes that are relevant to the Greenwich area include details of heritage provisions and a proposal to increase the scale of properties on Pacific Highway between Bellevue Ave and Nield Ave. Proposed changes will go on public exhibition after the meeting.

The Environmental Sustainability Sub Committee is on the job! The Environmental Sustainability Sub Committee of the Association has lodged with Lane Cove Council an application for funding under Council’s Sustainability Small Grants scheme. The funding will enable the Association to host a Solar Expo which will run over a weekend early next year.
