Fish Habitat Action Grants Application Package Large grant – maximum $40,000 (excl GST)

A guide for applicants

Who can apply? Applications for funding are sought from individuals, fishing clubs/organisations, community groups or local councils interested in rehabilitating fish habitats in NSW. Joint applications are also encouraged.

Eligibility and Priority Areas Using this application form, applicants can apply for a Habitat Action Grant of up to $40,000 (GST exclusive) where matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis (cash and/or in-kind support). Funding applications must relate to the enhancement of recreational fishing through the improvement of fish habitat. Successful projects are usually funded for one year, however funding extensions may be applied for in writing under certain circumstances (e.g. weather delays etc). Extensions may be provided at the discretion of the grant administrator.

Applications from recreational fishers or which demonstrate the support of local recreational fishers will be given preference. Applications must also show sound technical support and consultation has taken place with NSW DPI Fisheries Conservation staff (details provided, see Table). A checklist to assist applicants forms part of the application form and must be completed.

Successful applicants will be required to:  enter into a standard Habitat Action Grant Funding Agreement;  obtain relevant permits, as appropriate, prior to any on-ground works commencing;  submit progress reports if requested by the administrator (template provided);  submit reports on completed milestones (template provided) and an invoice as a condition of receiving funding instalments;  submit a final report (template provided) within 60 days of completing the project;  acknowledge the Recreational Fishing Trusts in project media, publications and signage.

15. Grant budget Provide a cost breakdown of the project items for which you are seeking a Fish Habitat Action Grant. Note: a maximum of $40,000 (excluding GST) can be sought for individual project applications using this application form. Good and services tax (GST) - Before completing the budget section below, it is important that you read the following information:  If you, or the organisation administering the project, are registered for GST, please quote GST exclusive costings when you fill in your application. The Trust will add GST to your grant payment.  If you, or the organisation administering the grant, are not registered for GST, you are entitled to include any project item GST that you will incur during the project into your budget. Provide a full breakdown of all sources of funds to meet the total project cost. Please note, there is a requirement for dollar for dollar matching funding to your Fish Habitat Action Grant, which may include cash and/or in-kind support.

16. Maintenance Please provide detail as to what activities will be implemented at the project site, once works have been completed, to promote general care, maintenance and survival of the funded works. Include who will be responsible for these activities.
