Nitamin Coated Sand is a unique, patent-pending way of delivering NITAMIN STEADY-DELIVERY nitrogen to your turf. NITAMIN Coated Sand has numerous advantages that make it perfectly suited for topdressing and new turf establishment with construction, renovation and divot repair.  Since the Nitamin fertilizer is glued to the sand, it stays where it is put, even in more porous and sandy environments like golf greens.  Fertilization and topdressing can be done at the same time. Because of NITAMIN’s extended nitrogen release profile, you will not need to use NITAMIN Coated Sand for topdressing after aeration to encourage faster and denser turf recovery.  The amount of NITAMIN on each grain of coated sand is small compared to the amount of nitrogen in each granule of granular fertilizers. Since the total amount of nitrogen applied with NITAMIN Coated Sand is divided over a large number of particles, you can achieve better fertilizer coverage and a more even distribution than can be achieved with granular fertilizers. Your turf will maintain an even, green color and dense texture with out a mottled appearance.

of 3 The Nitamin Advantage  The small particle size of sand allows NITAMIN to be distributed to the place where your grass needs it the most – the root zone – resulting in quick and dense turf growth for recovery. It also allows NITAMIN to be applied to greens without interfering with the quality of the playing surface.  NITAMIN fertilizer technology is designed to have low levels of salt and biuret, minimizing risk of turf burn. NITAMIN is so safe that some formulations can even be applied directly to seeds and roots.

Turf Recovery NITAMIN-treated areas with plugs removed showed 2.5 to 3.5 times faster turf recovery compared to plug holes in untreated areas of the green. This rapid recovery was unexpected, given the low microbial activity and limited turf growth normally seen during the winter months. The NITAMIN topdressed areas with improved turf quality were still well-defined after three months, indicating that the NITAMIN STEADY-DELIVERY™ fertilizer stayed put even through heavy rain, and showed no horizontal movement within the soil. This is likely due to the fact NITAMIN is glued to the sand and that NITAMIN binds with the soil, minimizing nitrogen loss through leaching.

of 3 Ohio State University Research Demonstrates Advances in Turf Repair and Improvement in Turf Color and Density

 The OSU studies demonstrate benefits of NITAMIN topdressing applications when compared to traditional sand. “NITAMIN Coated Sand was used for topdressing at a rate of 1.5 pounds per 30 square feet (50 lbs/1000) provided better color and density than traditional sand applied at the same rate. The lower rate of NITAMIN Coated Sand applied at 0.75 pounds per 30 square feet (25 lbs/1000) also performed comparatively well” as stated by Dr. Karl Danneberger, professor at Ohio State University’s turf grass science department.  The results also demonstrated quicker turf recovery in core aerification applications and improved turf color and density in topdressing applications.
