By-Laws of Procedures for Election

I. The Hall of Fame Committee

A. The Committee shall be comprised of one representative from each of the following areas:

1. One central office administrator 2. The High School Principal 3. The Athletic Director 4. One appointee by principal representing current school community 5. Two coaches – one currently active, one retired 6. Two members of the community-at-large II. Eligibility

A. Player – must be graduated from Algonac High School for a minimum of 10 years before he/she is eligible for election.

B. Coach – must be retired from coaching in Algonac for a minimum of 5 years.

C. Teacher/Administrator – must be retired from the Algonac schools for a minimum of 5 years.

D. Contributor – may be elected after 10 years for significant contributions to the programs of the Algonac Schools.

E. Team – may be elected 10 years after their accomplishment as a team

III. Candidates Attributes

The traits and characteristics for which election to the Hall of Fame will be considered.

A. Player – ability, athletic achievements, integrity, sportsmanship, character and contributions to the teams on which they played.

B. Coach – record, sportsmanship, character, integrity and contributions to the schools and their programs.

C. Teacher / Administrator – integrity, ability, character, leadership and contributions to the success of the Algonac Schools.

D. Contributor – sportsmanship, character, leadership and contributions to the success of programs of the Algonac Schools.

IV. Nominating Procedures

A. Nominations for election may come from:

1. The Hall of Fame Committee members 2. Current Hall of Fame inductees 3. The community-at-large

B. Each nominee must have evidence of worthiness submitted with their name at the time of nomination.

C. Nomination forms may be obtained from the AHS link on the Algonac Community Schools website - www.algonac.k12.mi.us

D. The Committee or its designees will screen the nomination forms for accuracy and worthiness.

V. Voting Procedures

A. The committee shall meet and discuss the nominations to determine who shall be inducted. The Hall of Fame Committee will prepare a ballot of names from the nominations received.

1. Election into the Hall of Fame will require a majority of a quorum of those in attendance.

a. One (1) team and/or up to three (3) individuals will be elected each year. b. One (1) team or individual may be elected each year from the Veterans Era (50 years form current date becomes part of the Veterans Era)

VI. Induction Ceremonies

When a nominee is elected as an honored member, the name of the nominee shall be certified by the Committee for official enshrinement and all necessary action shall be taken for induction at the next Annual Induction Ceremony.
