Speech #1: Introductory Speech & Visual Pre-Write & Brainstorming

As I mentioned in earlier, the first thing we’ll be doing in class is an Introductory Speech. You will write and deliver a 2-3 minute speech that uses a visual aid of your choice (more on that later). This speech will allow for me and your audience to know who you are. Before we start, however, let’s do some pre-writing and brainstorming.

10 Adjectives 1. Quickly, without thinking, jot down 10 adjectives then describe you. Put them below. 2. Next, speak to your classmates/friends/family and ask them for adjectives that describe you. If you can’t speak to anyone you know, consider speaking to your classmates; you might be surprised. Jot the adjectives below. 3. Then, look over each list and select three that you think are the most significant. Put a star next to each and write them in the corresponding spaces below. 4. Next to each adjective, write down the details of a story or of an anecdote that reveal that particular quality in your being.
