The 40 Warrior team took advantage of some Griffin errors and battled to 41 the front 2418. Although the Lady Griffins fought point for point,

[4737] 2 1 Spartanburg Christian won the set 2523. The teams stood at 22; 2 and 3 4 Whereas, in set five, Spartanburg Day pulled forward with an 85 5 lead, but the Lady Warriors responded by grinding out a 109 lead. 6 After some long volleys and major plays for both teams, the Lady 7 Griffins took a 1413 lead with an ace from Kaylee Owens, 8 followed by a gamestomping kill by Allie Lockman in the center 9 of the court to finish the winning set 1513. 10 11 Whereas, sophomore setter Kathleen Babb led the winning effort 12 with thirtyeight assists, thirtyone digs, and five kills. Middle 13 hitters Kaylee Owens and Allie Lockman led the Griffin offense 14 with eighteen and eleven kills, respectively, while senior rightside 15 Ashley Tracy added six. Senior Libby Davenport led the defense 16 with twentysix kills, and Sara McCown nearly tied with 17 twentyfive, and Julia Cooper added twentyone. Lauren Oakes led 18 the charge for the Lady Griffins on the service line and also added 19 ten digs, three kills, and two blocks. Kathleen Babb and Kaylee 20 Owens were named to the All-State team; and 21 22 Whereas, in a sport that demands strength, agility, and speed, the 23 Lady Griffins posted a season record of 268, with Head Coach 24 Mandy Johnson and her skilled coaching staff using their own 25 athletic ability and training to forge this championship team and 26 teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable through life 27 both on and off the court; and 28 29 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 30 Representatives are grateful for the satisfaction and recognition 31 that the Spartanburg Day School volleyball players have brought 32 to their school and their community and look to hear of their 33 continued accomplishments in the days ahead. Now, therefore, 34 35 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 36 37 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 38 by this resolution, recognize and honor the Spartanburg Day 39 School volleyball team, coaches, and school officials for an 40 outstanding season and congratulate them for winning the 2015 41 South Carolina Independent School Association Class AA State 42 Championship title. 43
