East Los Angeles College: Established in September 1945 on the campus of Garfield High School. The college moved to its present 82-acre site on Avenida Cesar Chavez in Monterey Park in 1948. Background South Gate Educational Center: This 50,000 sq. ft. facility was established in 1997 to serve the growing student population that lives in the southern part of the college's main service area. Rosemead Educational Center: Established in 2007, this facility has 14 classrooms and serves the growing student population that lives in the northeastern part of the college's main service area. East Los Angeles College is dedicated to facilitating student learning through the highest quality of transfer, career technical, basic skills, and community service courses and programs. We serve a culturally diverse community of lifelong learners in a dynamic urban setting by supporting student Our Mission success in achieving associate degrees, general education, certificates, and personal development.
