PRESS RELEASE

FRIENDLY FIREFIGHER COMPETITION

YORK, PA – Firefighters from Springettsbury and Spring Garden Township will compete in sawing a roof off an automobile at the Lowe’s on East Market Street, on October 27, 2004 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The competition was created this year by a representative from DeWalt Power Tools to encourage use of their tools, while donating goods and services to a community in which a DeWalt Factory Service Center is located. DeWalt will donate a power saw to both Springettsbury and Spring Garden Township Firefighters for use during the competition, and it will remain theirs to keep after the competition.

Each fire department will attempt to be the first to remove the roof from a vehicle using the saw. The vehicles used by the fire departments are being donated by Louie’s Auto Repair and the York County Fire School. The first department to fully remove their vehicle’s roof receives bragging rights only, since both departments will keep their saws.

Matt Connor, Administrative Manager at Lowe’s, said “This is an event for everyone. Representatives from DeWalt will be at Lowe’s during the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to demonstrate their products, allow patrons to test available products and answer any questions consumers may have.” The day will be filled with demonstrations, competitions, and food provided by Lowe’s.
