Our Company is a leading sugar miller with a heritage spanning over forty years, situated in Western Kenya along Awasi - Nandi Hills road (About 55km from Kisumu).
We seek for suitable qualified and experienced Kenyan citizens who are dynamic, self motivated and results oriented for the following positions.
1. PROCESS MANAGER - 1 Post
Reporting to: HEAD OF FACTORY
Key Responsibilities o Supervise the factory process section through the area chemists, shift chemists and technicians in the juice treatment, sugar house and bagging sub-sections to achieve set process parameters and targets.
o Liaise with other relevant sections in the company to carry out cane availability audit and draw up annual production projections for the overall company budget.
o Optimize use of machines and process equipment with the aim of maximising on production of quality sugar.
o Monitor and control all process operations for maximum recovery of quality sugar that satisfies both market and statutory requirements at minimal cost
o Prepare technical reports on improvements and innovations achieved in sugar processing in the factory for presentation in local and international symposia.
o Organise for industrial testing of new sugar processing chemicals to identify cost effective ones.
o Plan and organise for weekly and annual process maintenance of all the equipment in the process house.
o Initiate timely procurement of quality process chemicals and materials and use the same to guarantee the attainment of set targets in the production of quality sugar and other co - products.
o Oversee good housekeeping standards that comply with statutory requirements on Sugar Quality.
Minimum Qualifications
o Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Food science and Technology or its equivalent. o Certificate in Chemical Control o Membership to relevant professional body (e.g. KSSCT) o Minimum eight (8) years relevant experience gained from a food manufacturing concern with five (5) years in sugar processing.
2. CHEMIST – JUICE TREATMENT – 1 Post
Reporting to: PROCESS MANAGER
Key Responsibilities o Monitor juice and syrup clarification to achieve set parameters. o Coordinate operations with personnel from mills, boilers, sugar house and laboratory, for smooth and efficient running of the J/T area. o Implement out weekly and annual process maintenance in conjunction with Area Engineer and Process Manager. o Oversee efficient juice heating and evaporation to achieve target syrup brixes. o Monitor mud filtration operations to avoid mud build up in the clarifier. o Oversee good housekeeping standards that comply with statutory requirements in areas of sugar quality, health and safety and environmental management. o Carry out industrial tests on new chemicals, production lines or techniques to ascertain their suitability for sugar production. o Maintain adequate stock levels of the daily consumables and chemicals for use in the area.
Minimum Qualifications
o Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Food science and Technology or its equivalent. o Membership to relevant professional body e.g. K.S.S.C.T. o Minimum four (4) years relevant experience gained from a food manufacturing concern.
3. CHEMIST - SUGAR HOUSE AND BAGGING – 1 Post
Reporting to: PROCESS MANAGER Key Responsibilities o Supervise sugar house and bagging sub sections through respective supervisors to ensure that set parameters and targets for these areas are achieved.
o Ensure optimum use of sugar house and bagging machines and equipment to minimise congestion and sugar losses
o Prepare, plan and coordinate weekly and annual maintenance in conjunction with area engineers and process manager o Ensure minimum losses through final molasses, spillages, leaks or entrainment of pans
o Ensure the bagging/packaging process is carried out to the highest quality standards that meet customer satisfaction.
o Ensure good house keeping standards that comply with statutory requirements in areas of sugar quality, health and safety and environmental management.
o Ensure good stock levels of the daily consumables and chemicals for use in the area.
o Planning for adequate manpower for Sugar House and Bagging operation
Minimum Qualifications o Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Food science and Technology or its equivalent with a Certificate/Diploma in cane sugar manufacture/chemical control o Membership to relevant professional body e.g. K.S.S.C.T. o Minimum eight (8) years relevant experience gained from a food manufacturing concern with four years in the sugar industry.
4. SHIFT CHEMIST – 2 Posts
Reporting to: PROCESS MANAGER Key Responsibilities o Implement FIFO principle in cane handling to avoid cane deterioration in the factory yard. o Monitor hourly process parameters and ensure set targets are achieved. o Prepare work programme at commencement of shift to avoid material congestion and maximise sugar production. o Liaise with the Shift Engineer to sustain adequate supply of steam and injection water to the Process house. o Monitor compliance to safe working conditions of shift personnel and safety of equipment. o Coordinate operations at the evaporation, clarification, filtration, sugar house and bagging stations to avoid downtime. o Monitor and control usage of process chemical and materials. o Process and bag high quality sugar that meets the Kenya Bureau of Standards requirements.
Minimum Qualifications o Degree in Food Science and Technology, Chemistry or equivalent. o Minimum three (3) years relevant experience gained in food manufacturing concern. 5. ELECTRICAL ENGINEER – 1 Post
Reporting to: Engineering Manager-Electrical
Key Responsibilities o Coordinate proper running and operation of all electrical equipment in the factory
o Co-ordinate the repairs and maintenance of all electrical equipment to minimise downtime. Carry-out design installation and commissioning of new electrical equipments
o Monitor imported and generated power parameters to be within acceptable limits.
o Propose the annual operational and maintenance budget for electrical section for approval.
o Monitor stock levels of spares for all electrical equipment and initiate the acquisition process.
o Attend to issues related to power supply and distribution to company installations (housing estates, boreholes, irrigation pump houses and other social amenities)
o Monitor compliance to safe working conditions to electrical equipment and personnel.
o Responsible for proper and adequate lighting at all work areas within the factory and security lighting in the residential estates
o Prepare and submit periodic reports.
o Plan, monitor and evaluate the performance of staff against set targets and objectives.
o Monitor and control utilisation of electrical power in the factory.
Minimum Qualifications
o Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. o Membership to a relevant professional body – e.g. Institute of Engineers of Kenya
o Minimum six (6) years relevant experience from a large manufacturing concern, preferably in the sugar industry.
6. AGRICULTURE ENGINEERING SUPERVISORS – 2 Posts
Reporting to: Assistant Agriculture Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities o Allocation of duties to machine operators. o Supervise on-going operations in land preparation sites, roads and factory solid waste. o Supervise maintenance of irrigation hardware. o Allocate tasks for machines, equipments and prepare daily machinery performance and utilisation reports. o Liaise with Field workshop for timely repairs/maintenance of relevant machinery. o Initiate raising of breakdown notes for machines and equipment to the field workshop o Inspect work activities to ensure achievement of set standards and roads specifications. o Provide records for budget preparation. o Prepare daily performance and machinery utilization report.
Minimum Qualifications
o Diploma in Civil/Agricultural engineering. o Two (2) years experience in roads construction and maintenance.
7. ENGLISH TEACHER – Chemelil Sugar Primary School – 1 Post
Reporting to: Deputy Head Teacher
Key Responsibilities o Impart moral values to the pupils. o Plan daily lessons and prepares schemes of work for the whole term. o Collect and prepare teaching materials. o Guide and counsel pupils. o Record pupils' daily attendance by maintaining an Attendance Register. o Impart skills in co-curriculum activities. o Ensure that the learning environment is conducive for the pupils. o Ensure safety of equipment and pupils. o Advise parents on the progress of the pupils.
Minimum Qualifications
o P1 Teacher Certificate. o Must have taught English in standard 8 and attained a mean score of 78% in KCPE o Good trainer of Drama/Music and any other indoor games upto National level o Skills in swimming will be an added advantage o Minimum two (2) years relevant experience.
