. 305 NHS Prescription Service information system users responded to the internet access survey

. 93.8% of users stated they had access to the internet as well as a N3 connection.

Due to the high numbers of users who have internet access NHS Prescription Services will progress the development of the modernised information system on the basis that it will be delivered via the internet. This should provide greater flexibility in the future (eg. Working from home). . 92.1% of respondents identified which

internet browser they used. Which Internet Browser do you Use? . Internet Explorer was the most widely 89% used browser by 90.4% of respondents

. 73% of respondents who use Internet Explorer, use version 7 or above.

FIREFOX FIREFOX/IE . Other browsers used are Firefox by GOOGLE CHROME INTERNET EXPLORER 3.9% of respondents and Google OPERA NON RESPONSE Chrome by 6.8% of respondents.

Based on these results NHS Prescription Services will develop the modernised information system to run on Internet Explorer version 6 onwards, Firefox version 3.6 onwards and Google Chrome.

Which Operating System do you use? . The most widely used operating system was Windows with 99.2% of 0% 1% respondents using it. 21%

The choice of browser and operating system appear to be decided at a local level and can vary between equivalent organisations. However, the modernised information systems will be compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7. It would also be desirable for it to be compatible with Mac OS 10.3.
