THE WORKPLACE SKILLS PLAN AS SET OUT IN THIS DOCUMENT

Overview

The rational behind the drafting of these guidelines is to assist you to work through the workplace skills plan (as set out online) without much difficulty. As a result you will be able to provide the ISETT SETA with the required information. The information pertaining to the following is required for the workplace skills plan.

THE PROCESS OF REGISTERING AND GAINING ACCESS TO THE WSP FORMS

Below is the schematic representation of the process from SDF registration to WSP submission.

SDF Registration and Registration to ISETT Feedback to SDF via linking of employer to SETA for Approval e-mail on status of SDF profile registration

SDF can gain access SUBMITT WSP TO into WSP forms on the ISETT SETA system and input data

*The approval of SDF registration and Company registration by the ISETT SETA will at the most be carried out within 24 hours after they have been submitted.

THE WORKPLACE SKILLS PLAN (1 APRIL 2001 - 31 MARCH 2002)

The WSP guideline provides explanatory notes where potential difficulties with regards to different interpretations are perceived. It also provides assistance with regards to maneuvering within the system.

SDF REGISTRATION

. To register as an SDF click on the option Register as an SDF. Your registration will be forwarded to the ISETT SETA. Once your registration has been approved, you will be get notification via e-mail to that effect with your username and password. Make sure to change your password immediately.

SDF DETAILS

Below is a table with fields and explanations, which will enable you to complete the SDF details page of the WSP.

SDF INFORMATION

This section of the plan deals with the capacity in which the Skills Development Facilitator is operating as well as the appointment procedure.

COMPANY DETAILS

On the main menu under TOOLS you can either edit the SDF details you captured when you registered or register or remove an employer. Registering an employer will link the employer to you as an SDF.

The SDF will need the L number to be able to link with the company Edit SDF details SDF can edit their details

The company details are required to confirm the company’s registered name, address and telephone details, etc. If there are any changes they should be edited on the column ISETT DATA.

Field Explanations Company Name This is the company’s registered name SARS Registration (SDL Number) This your levy number e.g. L45678910 SIC CODE SIC standards for Standard Industrial Classification code. In simpler terms SIC is a code that reflects the main business activity of your company. Select an applicable SIC code Physical address This must reflect the companies registered physical address Province Tick the province in relation to the address above Company Contact Details This is your company’s registered contact details

COMPANY CONTACT

The rationale behind this question is that in case the SDF is unavailable the SETA may need to contact an alternative person in the company regarding urgent information.

This information is required by the SETA for the purposes of the SETA being informed about the size and the payroll of the companies affiliated to it.

INPUTTING THE WORKPLACE SKILLS PLAN DATA

The information below is intended to assist you in inputting WSP data and being able to maneuver within the different forms.

Explanations . Once the organisational data (i.e. company details, banking details, payroll and employees, and company contact) has been completed, WSP data should be captured. On your screen click WSP and report. The next screen will allow you to create a new WSP. . To create a new WSP select the year which is applicable for the WSP you are about to input data. Then click ENTER. Still on the same screen on the table click on the SELECT option to go to the next screen. . The next screen shows different topics covered in the WSP as well as those covered in the Implementation phase. To input WSP data only use the 8 topics as outlined. . There is an option on the same screen CUSTOMISE which enables you to customise the forms, by deselecting the fields that are not applicable to your organisation. For example if your company does not have a certain occupational group you can go and deselect that particular field so that when you input data you only have fields that are applicable to your WSP data. . To customise the forms click on CUSTOMISE. A new form in a single page will be shown. Deselect all the fields, which are not applicable to your organisation and then click ENTER at the bottom of the page to save your changes. . Go to the top of the same form and click BACK to WSP to go back to the WSP topics, choose the first topic and input WSP data.

ABET EDUCATION AND TRAINING

This information is required to identify the interventions required to archive skills priorities with regard to Adult Basic Education and Training. Note: The form for ABET Education and Training is the same as the form for Education and Training Required to Archive Skill Priorities. Therefore for explanations please refer to those below.

CURRENT EMPLOYMENT PROFILE

Below is the table with fields and explanations to enable you to complete the Employment Profile details page of the WSP.

Fields Explanations Occupational This has been broken down into broad categories along SOC Group codes. African This is the total number of Africans currently employed in your M/F/D company in the broad occupational categories (SOC codes) split along race, gender and disabled demarcations Coloured This is the total number of Coloureds currently employed in your M/F/D company in the broad occupational categories (SOC codes) split along race, gender and disabled demarcations Indians/Asians This is the total number of Indians/Asians currently employed in M/F/D your company in the broad occupational categories (SOC codes) split along race, gender and disabled demarcations Whites This is the total number of Whites currently employed in your M/F/D company in the broad occupational categories (SOC codes) split along race, gender and disabled demarcations Total This is the total number of male, female and disabled persons employed in your company in the broad occupational categories (SOC codes) Sub Total Self Explanatory Grand Total Self Explanatory

M = Male F = Female D = Person with a Disability (Refer to Employment Equity Act for definition)

PROVINCIAL PROFILE

The reason for asking for a provincial profile is so that the SETA has an idea of the learner representation of the sector in various provinces. This information is also required for the sector skills plan.
