ONGOING REPORTS – COMMITTEES & PROJECTS: Community Policing Report: Officer Pickett reports that overall crime is down in Center. Emphasizes that car prowls are on the rise and encourages folks to leave their cars “in show room” condition when parked on street (e.g. no valuables inside or in sight). Encouraged participation in next Community Policing Forum (see announcements above).

Treasurer: no information was available. DyLynn created notebook with info to help Treasurer track tax and registration schedules. Land Use & Transportation: Neighbors have concerns about request for zoning change from R2 to R1 at 56th and N.E. Couch. All neighbors attending were not in favor of this change and discussion ensued with emphasis on letter writing campaign. Sean briefly gave overview of how the zoning codes work, which City bureaus are responsible for this type of shift in neighborhood planning and review. C.N.A. Board approved motion to send letter to City reviewer in objection to the request for change in zoning. Sean will write letter. Providence Good Neighbor Committee: Judy reported the group toured the new cancer center and encouraged others to do so at their next open house on Saturday 2/23/08 from 10:30 to Noon. SEUL Liaison: Shirley reports SEUL’s involvement in the Portland Plan Review and encourages us to give feedback in the upcoming Budget Outreach Forums (see announcements above). SEUL also will provide us, on request, a speaker to address the goals of the Community Connect program specific to issues of inclusion and increasing involvement from under-represented groups in the community. Connections/Outreach: Shirley and DyLynn will come up with a date to resume meetings with probable meeting location at SEUL. Sullivan’s Gulch Trail: No report available Rosemont Bluff Natural Area: DyLynn reported on planting that occurred on February 9th with many of volunteers from throughout the city but only a few actually from Center. Concerns were raised about the density of planting and need to be addressed soon. DyLynn with contact April to arrange a meeting with concerned neighbors. On-going ivy pull events will continue on the 4th Saturdays of each month from 9-Noon and there is an Earth Day event planned for Saturday, April 26. April could use more help with planning this event. There is also a fundraising and neighborhood workshop planned for Sunday, May 18 from 1-5 PM at the Friends Meeting House – “Naturescaping in the Neighborhoods.” DyLynn has more info on this. Communications: Newsletter will go out now that we have settled a date for the Annual Clean—Up. DyLynn will let people know about delivery. Annual Clean-Up: Date is set for Saturday May 17, 2008 in the Northeast corner of Fred’s parking lot. Sean will connect with Robert and Marsha (and any other folks available to help plan for event). DyLynn motioned for approval of funds to purchase C.N.A. signs to use as this event as well as others in future. Motion was approved and Sean will look into printing costs. Glisan Area Business Association: Sean will try to connect with Jessica to see if this effort is one to continue pursuing at this time. Rey Ko suggests that Providence should have a more active role in this effort. NEW BUSINESS: I. They have met with Hollywood and Rose City Park neighborhood associations as well.

II. Emi Pimentel from SEUL presented a sample “Welcome Packet” for residents getting acquainted with neighborhood associations. This is a small part of the process of creating a more welcoming and warm as well as informative process for including new people and increasing participation. DyLynn has gathered much of the information Emi requested to include in Center’s welcome packets and will pass along to Emi.
