The following Special Provisions are supplementary requirements and amendments to the Standard Specifications for Highway Construction, which apply to this project. The requirements and amendments given in these Special Provisions shall take precedence over the requirements given in the Standard Specifications. In case of conflict, the first two Special Provisions listed below shall take precedence over the remaining Special Provisions.

Also, the current list of the 2008 General Application Special Provisions accessible on the ALDOT Construction Bureau’s webpage should be reviewed to determine if any of the special provisions listed are applicable for this project. These special provisions represent updates to the existing specifications, and their inclusion will all depend upon the items of work in the specific contract. Applicable special provisions shall be listed on the SP.doc form and included in their entirety in the contract documents. An ALDOT Division representative will review and concur with the special provisions selected by the designer.

SP 08-0101 for Award and Execution of Contract (State Projects Only) is not required. It has been included in SP 08-LPA3(3).

SP 08-0874 is not required since Article 109.08 and Sub-article 109.12(c) conflict with the provisions in 08- LPA3(3). The provisions in Article 109.04 of 08-0874 have been included in 08-LPA3 (3).

For any work, pay items, or requirements not covered by existing ALDOT specifications, designer shall compose additional Special Provisions. Special Provisions shall address:  .01 Description of Work  .02 Materials to be used  .03 Construction Requirements  .04 Method of Measurement  .05 Basis of Payment

If specifying by manufacturer, model no., etc., at least three (3) different manufacturers (plus “or approved equal”) shall be listed. The use of “Proprietary Products” will require written justification and approval by the FHWA and ALDOT. List the additional Special Provisions here, and insert into proposal package in the order listed.
