Course Description The expectations for this course will be taught through the exploration of animation techniques, from traditional hand-drawn animation to 3D modelling. Students will work independently and in groups, to create interesting and unique animations. Students will study from the work of others in order to inspire and further develop their own projects.

Unit 2: Hand-drawn In this unit students will be introduced to the history Animation of the Manga Novel and its present-day form. 10 Students will hand-draw a 5 page novel excerpt, - Manga Novel complete with script, thumbnails, completed panels - Flipbook with full shading and a plot that is comprehensive.

15% Students will also create a hand-drawn narrative flipbook animation, complete with colours. Unit 3: Stop-Motion In this unit students will work with clay, creating experimental and narrative claymation projects. - Claymation 10 - Cut-out animation Students will also create animated work based on the technique of cutout animation. 15%

Unit 4: 2D Flash Animation In this unit, students will get an introduction to the power of Adobe Flash. Students will get their first 15% 15 experience animating in Keyframes, and will learn basic Flash animation skills.

Unit 5: 3D Animation Students will begin this unit working in Google SketchUp. They will gain beginning knowledge of 15% 15 how to work in a 3D environment. Students will then move into 3D Studio Max to apply this knowledge in professional software.

Culminating Activity In this year-long unit, students will prepare a project on Global Citizenship. Students must maintain a 30% project management binder.
