Job Announcement: Horticultural Technician

The Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District (“District”), an Equal Opportunity Employer, is accepting applications for a full-time Horticultural Technician. Under the general guidance of the Landscape Foreman the successful applicant will be part of a highly motivated parks maintenance team. The Horticultural Technician will be responsible for the care and maintenance of flower and shrub beds in the District’s parks and greenbelts Duties include developing and implementing seasonal maintenance plans for gardens; selecting and planting flowers and shrubs; addressing weed, disease and insect issues; providing supplemental water to gardens and newly planted trees throughout the year; providing leadership and assistance to parks maintenance staff involved in shrub and flower care; assisting in various landscape maintenance projects including some evening, early morning and weekend snow removal; safely operating equipment such as pruners, chemical sprayers, Roto-tiller, sod cutter, chainsaw, front-end loader, snow removal equipment, water truck, and dump truck. Applicant should have three years of parks horticulture experience, with increasing levels of responsibility, or any combination of education and/or work experience that has provided for the knowledge and abilities necessary for excellent job performance. Must have the ability to lift, move and carry objects in excess of fifty (50) pounds. All Parks Department employees report to work at or before 7:00 a.m. and normally conclude their work day at 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and before noon on Friday. Members of the Parks Maintenance Team are expected to contribute to snow removal and seasonal special events and projects that may occasionally require working evenings and weekends. Applicant must possess or be able to obtain a valid Colorado Driver’s License and be insurable by the District’s insurance carrier. Selected applicant must successfully pass a physical exam and drug test and possess a clean driving record. Successful applicant must present a current MVR before a firm offer of employment will be made.
