Eugene Raymond Gardenhire, 64, of Salina, died Sunday, July 6, 2003 at his home surrounded by all of his family. Family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home from 6-7 PM. Interment will take place Friday at Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina. Eugene was born August 10, 1938 in Salina to the late Samuel J., Sr. and Dorothy (Henderson) Gardenhire. He was employed in maintenance at Quick Cash Recycling, Montgomery Wards and Sears. Eugene is survived by his wife, Bernice Jean Holmes of the home; 5 daughters, Gwendolyn J. Adams of Salina, Lavita J. Gardenhire of Salina, Tammy L. Brown of Salina, Jannette D. and her husband Arlander Johnson of Salina, Taresa L. and her husband Steve Slayton of Salina; 2 sons, Raymond E. Gardenhire of Wichita and William E. Gardenhire of Salina; 3 sister, Cleo Dunbar of Salina, Dorothy Jacobs of Salina and Barbara Gardenhire of Manhattan; 3 brothers, Thomas, Richard and Jimmy Gardenhire all of Salina; 26 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Eugene was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Lacene and Tina Gardenhire; 2 brothers, Samuel, Jr. and William Gardenhire; and a sister, Lillian Gardenhire.
